PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Disappointing to read that,

No, not his thoughts on City being punished.

More the fact he was a linesman and not a referee.

He could have been Malcolm in the middle :-)
Even more disappointing I had to Google Malcolm in the Middle

Far easier to remember famous Malcolm's from the 70s:

Malcolm Allison
Malcolm Macdonald
Malcolm Muggeridge
Malcolm McDowell
Malcolm McLaren

Oh and "Course you can Malcolm" from the Vicks Synex Nasal Spray advert

Which side are Forest on in the 115 schism? I am wondering whether their apparent fallout with Spurs will have any impact on PL club alliances.

All that was obvious from your original post, matey. I don't know why it's so hard these days for people to understand a messaging without turning it into some binary, with or against, choice. It's always happened in off-topic, of course, but it's happening more and more in the rest of the forum. You can clearly see the posters on here who engage in it. And it's a shame. Society, eh?
Hopefully we can soon designate @slbsn and @Prestwich_Blue as extreme left / right or woke /gammon and move this thread to the politics forum.

Oh, Malcolm!

All this nonsense is more tedious than just waiting for the announcement.

Fwiw, though, I believe @Prestwich_Blue has heard something from a source he trusts.

I also believe @slbsn has heard something from (several) sources he trusts.

Without knowing who these sources are, though, it's all pretty meaningless. Better just wait and we will see soon enough.

Seriously, how do you explain this incredible story has only got to you and not been published anywhere? It is clearly the biggest sports story of the decade (City have won, PL have hidden it, PL want to get rid of Masters without telling the shareholders the result (because they can't tell the clubs for fear of a leak), the appeal process is somehow suspended or there won't be any appeal by the PL etc). You have to accept this is an incredible story if true. So how come only you have it. In the entire World? And you weren't even told it confidentially because you have been prepared to say it here. And if the person who told you, didn't require confidentiality, why haven't they told other people?
I think he’s got a point,Stefan that is

Regardless of the eventual verdict, most of our rivals either don't understand the complexity and serious nature of the charges or simply assume that we're guilty anyway, so publication of the verdict won't make much difference.

Yesterday provided the perfect microcosm when I umpired a prestigious junior county cricket match (Derbyshire v South Yorkshire) and was talking to my fellow match official Malcolm Wright.

Malcolm was a Season Ticket holder at Bramall Lane, but was born and bred in Southend, and had attended their recent Wembley defeat to Oldham.

He was a really interesting character, especially when he confided that he also used to be a First Division/Premier League Linesman from 1981-1993

Most of his career had been in the Part Time era so he only tended to officiate at games in the South East. However, he had definitely "run the line" at a couple of City games and was particularly complimentary about Keith Curle's good manners in stark contrast to the Match Officials having to call the Police at Highbury after United's Martin Edwards had stormed into their Changing Room and made all sorts of wild accusations.

Everything was great until literally out of the blue:

"So when are City going to be punished then? It's taking far too long"
"Probably because they're innocent of the really serious stuff"
"It's not fair though when other teams are being fined or relegated"
"Yes, but those teams failed financial regulations. City have been accused of something far more serious"
"Well, it just doesn't wash with me"

So there you have it
We're guilty because it's taken so long and other teams have been punished for something else
Football does funny things to people. That was an observation from a non footballing supporter I used to work with. This is an example of a seemingly intelligent, informed individual who has lost all sense of perspective.

I think most people just get on with their own lives and aren't particularly interested in the nitty gritty finer details of something so complex and serious. Then they hear something in the pub and all hell breaks loose.

It's a bit like Wimbledon when everyone seemingly becomes an expert on Tennis and suddenly start confiding that Djokovic needs to grow old gracefully (even when they couldn't tell you a single thing about his opponent)

Or to give a better example, everyone remembers Eddie the Eagle, but nobody remembers who won the Olympic Gold Medal that year.

The details don't matter. City must be guilty because a lot of people think we're guilty.

I’ve gone from being really worried about this case to almost past caring.

My overriding feeling is annoyance that it’s gone on for so long and no one gives a toss about what we City fans think.

No one in the media (Samuel aside) sticks up for us so we are left to stew in silence. In the dark about our future

If this was the red lot there would be media campaigns and questions asked in parliament about the fans welfare.

Increasingly I am irritated with our owners. Their lack of communication whilst this drags on and on really grates.

Yes I know it’s an anti competitive tactic to stop us and it’s a legal matter etc etc.

But this nonsense goes on and on.Do our owners ever see a time when it stops? It’s ridiculous.

I don’t think it will stop,if we are cleared they’ll just come up with something else maybe in a year’s time or so and off we go again..

Some people will have us like Liverpool!

We didn’t ask for any of this, but the best we can do is own it!

Take the piss.

I don’t mind Sam Lee, although don’t subscribe to Athletic to read his stuff.
He’s perfectly ok - he now gets what being a City fan is all about. The morons will still snipe, but he’s a good egg.
