What has New Order being better have to do with an Oasis reunion?
In what context are New Order better?
New Order are more influential, more important musically and when push comes to shove have been more important for Manchester, cultually.
As musicians, Bernard, Stephen and Hooky have a far bigger body of quality work which is original and influential. But that's including Joy Division and Electronic in that. You can say those 3 musicians don't get the credit they deserve. For me, they are the most important musicians who are associated with Manchester.
But, New Order don't have an album an good as Definitely Maybe. WTSMG is also better than any individual New Order album, imo. You might suggest Substance. But, the Oasis b-sides album is amazing, as well.
Liam is a far better front man than Bernard and Oasis are far better live. New Order do not have 2 hours worth of sing along anthems and they can't hold stadiums or festivals in the palm of their hands like Oasis do.
New Order could not fill half that field at Heaton Park. They also played Joy Division songs along with their own. In that context and setting, Oasis have been far better.
I would much rather be in that field with all my mates, having a beer and sing-along, as the sun goes down, listening to to Oasis rather than to New Order.
New Order have been the soundtrack to my life. But there are times and places where Oasis are better. Just saying New Order are better, without any context is a pointless comment and has no relevance to a thread about an Oasis reunion.
