Oasis reunion

Despite the backlash, comments by the chief executive of Live Nation Entertainment, which owns Ticketmaster, indicated that fans in the UK, Ireland and Europe can expect dynamic pricing to become much more common.

Speaking in February, as Live Nation unveiled a 36% increase in annual revenues to $22.7bn, its chief executive, Michael Rapino, said: “Outside of the US, we’re in the first inning … We’re just rolling this [dynamic pricing] out around the world. So that’s the great growth opportunity, obviously.
Openly admitting they’re robbing bastards. Fair enough, it’s their company and they can do whatever they want and it works for them.
I would say it’s Noel that only agreed to this tour on the basis he makes as much as possible, he can’t be arsed and doesn’t really want to be back with his brother again - just wants to get it over and done with for maximum pay out. Is my feeling anyway.
If you watch videos of them both over the years since the breakup, I don’t think I’ve ever heard Noel say he misses his brother. Liam on the other hand has done several times. Noel was never a rock n roll star, or a wannabe. Where as Liam was, Noel didn’t want that life anymore and he probably doesn’t want it now.

I agree with a lot of this. I should add that I am somewhat conflicted as I've been heavily involved with campaigning for cheaper football tickets down the years. I'm also massively opposed to dynamic pricing for gigs and it would've been great if Oasis had railed against that from the off rather than agreeing to it. In their defence (if you can call it a defence), they're far from alone as the likes of Springsteen and Coldplay have, in the past, agreed to dynamic pricing for their gigs too. To that end, they can't be accused of giving any less of a fuck as Bruce Springsteen and Chris Martin but for some reason Oasis seem to be getting a lot more shit for it than those two.

Dynamic pricing issues aside, I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Gig prices are high pretty much everywhere these days but gigs are different to football matches in that many football fans attend 20,30,or 40 matches a season, whereas you'll be hard pushed to find even the most diehard Oasis fan who has attended 20,30,or 40 Oasis gigs in their lifetime. Put another way, I went to see The Killers at the Co-Op Live in June and my standing tickets were £103.50 each including booking fee. If City charged that for a CL QF or SF I'd be far more inclined to kick off about that than I was when I stumped up the money for my Killers tickets. That's partly because I attend every City home game when I'm around to do so, but I've only been to 7 or 8 Killers gigs. I spend far more money on football tickets every year than I do gig tickets.

Apart from the dynamic pricing issue, I don't think the Gallaghers have shat on anyone really. They've got to where they are through their own efforts and they're clearly reaping the rewards of that. I'd challenge anyone on this forum not to maximise their own popularity if they found themselves in the same situation as Liam and Noel. Questions definitely should be asked about the dynamic pricing but beyond that, they're getting unwarranted stick compared to many other artists who charge a fortune for concert tickets too.
I think the difference is, one of the reasons they became so popular is because they were against the corporate machine.

Noel''s on record at an award ceremony saying it means more that it was voted for by "the people as opposed to corporate pigs".

He said at the outset the band was there to destroy people like Phil Collins and Sting.

In his interview with John Robb the other week, he said it was "the people" that kept Oasis alive. Not executives, or the industry, but "the people".

No one resents them making a load of money. Good luck to them getting their £55m. But they could have got £50m and not tarnished their reputation and legacy.

Noel has now gone way past Phil Collins and become this generation's Barbara Streisand.

Feel quite relieved that the £355 tickets didn’t load when I was on the website. I thought normal tickets had sold out and those ones were the only ones left and were in a premium area or something. Would have been well pissed off to find there was nothing extra for the additional £200. Fucking scam charging that much.

To be honest I've had it in for Noel ever since he turned his nose up at the One Love Manchester gig, that was the time for Oasis to reform, but obviously wasn't interested because there was no money in it for him

I always remember which Gallagher turned up that day.
Another simplistic view of something a poster knows next to nothing about on this thread.

Maybe that was the time for them NOT to reform. Maybe Noel knew more about his volatile relationship with his brother than you did at the time and he didn't want any controversy to cloud a benefit concerns for the victims of a terror attack.

But dynamic pricing affected people on Saturday so let's pile in on anything we can regarding Noel Gallagher.

Amen and same here.
Noel Gallagher was, is, and always will be, a twat.
A modern day Cilla Black. “Loves Manchester, alright ‘R kid” but literally couldn’t fuck off to London fast enough. That One Love concert was the one chance he had to do something tangible for the City he professes to love and instead he stayed the fuck away.
The real Gallagher brother turned up however, and that was enough for me.
He’s a wanker.
Yep. IIRC Noel was too busy celebrating his 50th birthday somewhere in the States. Liam was also busy gigging in Germany but flew back home straight after performing over there to do One Love Manchester.

Edit: It seems Noel was actually on holiday in Italy with his family at the time so it would've been easier for him to get back over than if he was in the States.

I don't agree with the poster that it was the right time for them to reform but Noel could've put in an appearance separately from Liam. Liam didn't turn up until later that evening as he was doing his festival slot in Germany so they could've both played and not even had the misfortune of bumping into each other.

Fair enough. I don't think they ever became popular because they were against the corporate machine though. For me, they became popular because they knocked out a shit load of great music, particularly on the first 2 albums. I seem to recall the build-up to the release of their third album was hyped up way beyond the first two so they were playing the corporate game a hell of a long time ago.

I remember when if you wanted a ticket for football or a concert all you had to do was find the date time of sale,go to venue or selling agent join the queue depending on how popular it was you generally had the ticket in you hand within a hour and you paid the price on the ticket,no booking fee or dynamic pricing or resale sites selling at super inflated prices

All Oasis need to do is to tell Live Nation and Ticket Master to refund the dynamic pricing ticket price increase back to the people that paid it. A refund is easy to do.
that will never happen, they will say oasis signed up to the terms and conditions and that was part of them
