Right back options

How about we instead sign a proper right back, who can play right back and is used to playing right back instead of plonking square pegs in round holes all the time?

We seem to specialise in playing centre halves at full back, & midfielders at full back -maybe its me but Im old fashioned enough to actually want a right back to play right back.
It’s completely valid and reasonable to want that

I want what works, if playing Khusonov there works then who cares what his main position is.
From what youve seen of Khusanov what makes you think he will provide any viable attacking threat at all? Yes hes got pace but hes not much use as an overlapping option - compare to Ait-Nouri on the other side as an example.

Peps style demands that the full backs can play in the opposition half and are comfy in possession; Khusanov has his qualities but the skill set our system demands for the position - a vital role as demonstrated by our failings in the 16/17 season when we had old men at full back - are something Id suggest he just doesnt have.

I have no idea whether he would or not, I don't know if Pep thinks he can either. All I'm saying is we have won plenty using none traditional full backs and if we go that way I'm not bothered that Khusonov isn't a full back if it works.
From my limited knowledge I think maybe Khusonov could play the inverted ful back role if that's what Pep wants.

could daniel munoz from palace be a viable option for man city played unbelievable against us in fa cup final looks a good defender and great going forward but is 29

Is capable of scoring a lot of goals when in the wing back role and as have said before a fantastic player going forward. Would maybe cover us for 3/4 seasons given age. Think he has just signed an extension at palace. If we were looking for a stop gap him or Dumfries would provide it but not sure what money palace would want or how we create the space in non HG.

yeah was very impressed with him in the games against us and yeah as i sent it saw he had signed an extension and haven't even thought about hg problem

I think Khusanov could grow into it.

No, he can't play it super aggressive like Balde, Hakimi or Ait Nouri.

But maybe he can play it a bit like Kounde, wherein primarily he is there to make the back 3 defensively sound.

But has that license to eventually overlap wide and cross with his pace. Of course this part is the bit he has to learn to be better at, but he is plenty young to develop into such a player.

Some of our fans are positional elitists. :)

That said, i personally don't think Khusanov at RB would work. Perhaps in spot duties against Madrid and PSG with their speedy and skillful Left wingers. But even then might not be worth the cost.

Our current style demands that our fullbacks be attacking in nature. We currently do two things.consistently well when healthy,
1.Dominate possession and 2. Develop our offense slowly.

Those 2 things almost always necessitates participation on the parts of our fullbacks on overloads the wings and actively participate in attempts to build up and breakdown a parked defense.

We are worse both offensively and defensively when our fullbacks cant fully participate in the process sur to their technical limitations.

Our attack and defense works symbiotically in that sense. When we are turgid on offense, we lose the ball more often and concede more counters, chances, and inevitably, goals. We are more turgid on offense when we don't play full backs who can participate fully in the possession and attacking phases of our play.

Khusanov sucks at those key skills. What we need to do is probably play him at CB and let him use his recovery speed and quickness to cover for the full backs on counters

Livramento is quite clearly the best option o the market. Can lock that position down for years. If we sign a stop-gap, he will just have the same problem in 6 months and we’d be better off keeping Nunes there. It has to be a level-raiser. It’s like with the Kovacic deal, while he has been a more than good enough rotation player — we are in a position where we would like to replace him — with a younger and more physical midfielder. It’s like plugging holes rather than fixing them. With how agressive our title-rivals are looking in the market — we should follow suit.

This is exactly what we need on the right for balance, an out and out pace merchant who can defend and comfortable in a back three at times. Basically another Walker.

There’s literally 5 options out there I wish this club would just sort this position out already

Livramento
Djed Spence
Vanderson
Dumfries
Martim. F

I want either one idrc at this point

You forgot the obvious candidate who's already in Manchester. Dalot can play both sides in every sense - Cracking FB, young and cheap.
