Carse looks finished for the duration, why do we pick these crocks?

35 wickets fell in 150 odd overs. Do they still inspect pitches when loads of wickets have fallen? With points deducted if the pitch was deemed substandard?

I believe there was a bloke from the ECB there to inspect the wicket after the game ended. This has happened before in Taunton, most notably when they tried to force a result against Essex to win th CC on the last day.

I know it's been a dry summer, but they haven't quite got the pitches right this year in England.

I recall going to Bristol for a Nat West Trophy game in the late 80s, very tight game. Just looked it up, it was 1989, Gloucs batted first and got a mammoth 174/7 off 60 overs (including 30 extras) and Lancs scraped home by one wicket off the final ball. How times have changed with the way one-dayers are played now....and largely for the better!

Can’t find the one I was referring to. It was very hot and I’d been drinking, did I imagine it? More close games in those days due to the lower scores

Edit found in 1984, Lancs made 349, Fowler 122, Gloucester 289, great day. Strangely David Hughes batted at 3 or 4 but Neil Fairbrother (what a batsman that rag twat was) batted 6

Another absolute disgrace of a pitch down in Somerset. Day 2, the games about to end and there's pillars of dust exploding out of the surface every time the ball pitches. Not the first time at that ground either.

Think they just forgot to prepare it.

It’s probably the dread metatarsal. A tiny injury but very debilitating.

He certainly is. His highest FC score before coming to Lancs was 60 odd, and he's now hit 3 Centuries, fair play to him

I like his bowling too. Gives us a measure of control. Whether he is a possible for the Ashes I don’t know, but he is a very decent all rounder by any standards.
I’m not sure what he’s contracted for at Lancs, but I hope he can stay for some time. We might need him for the T20 final.(Here’s hoping!)
