Do we really need to go for "world class" - look at Mbappé as an example. PSG won the Champions League AFTER he left, and Real Madrid have taken a small backward step. You are right. It is borderline impossible to sign established ‘world class’ players. The key is getting them just as they are becoming that. Silva, Kompany, Sergio, KDB, Fernandinho, Rodri all became recognised as world class players whilst at City. Hopefully at least a couple of our recent signings will follow suit.
