I think any deal fell through when I believe that they wanted $60M plus McAtee and Spuds cocked it up for them.

I'd have happily dispensed with McAtee, Gundog & Kovacic & brought in MGW. We'd lose three & bring in an England international & increased the squad quality whilsy cutting numbers in the process.

He’ll still move IMO. Maybe this window, definitely next Summer.

Just a power play from the owner who is essentially delaying the inevitable and reinvestment in the squad. Especially if he goes later this window.

Not a chance this summer, perhaps next although the RC will have been removed or massively increased with no wriggle room. Good on Forest and MGW for doing it, it's always fun to laugh at Spurs for some reason.
 
Has there been a situation when Club triggers release clause for a player and then later said player signs new contract. That’s kinda embarrassing.

Nah it’s gonna be next summer. Apparently the clause was a gentleman’s agreement where he can leave for £60m if a big club comes calling for him. The forest owner doesn’t see Spurs as that calibre of club

With respect to Forest, MGW would’ve jumped at the chance to go to Spurs IMO.

As @Alexia_Ko suggests, I don’t think it was an actual release clause. A classic. Probably why he’s signed a deal because he’s been fucked over and wants to make sure it’s in writing now.

Amazes me players fall for that type of shit from owners. Kane did it with Levy.
