UEFA Women's Euros | England win final on penalties!

I don’t recall anyone saying there was anything ‘wrong’ with building a new career in their 30’s, just that it’s not easy. Jill Scott was the example I quoted. These aren’t however, League 1 or 2 players, they are the elite players in their sport. League winners, cup winners and international champions, albeit in a sport that doesn’t generate huge sums of money, that presents opportunities for them that League 1 and 2 players don’t get. So whilst I understand why Earps is disliked, I still don’t blame her or any of the girls for trying to maximise their earnings during what is a short career.

I didn't say you specifically said that, apologies if it came across that way. However I've seen a lot of pros asking the question.

Okay then, let's use Joe Calzaghe as an example. Elite boxer. World champion. He's still had to find jobs after boxing and has gone into promotion and managing.

It's all relative. Comparing elite women's players to elite men's players is ridiculous. And that's what is turning what could be male fans of the women's game away.

I'm loving the women's side of the game, have purchased a season ticket for City womens next season, but I'm a realist and I can see that the elite women's player, at this moment in time, will need to work after they retire.

Not everyone can be a Leah Sanderson … brains, looks, eloquence and a sparkling personality!!

Kelly swearing live on national tele. Sky News having kittens.

I do like the increased family element of women's football. 60,000 have showed up to the celebrations and it looks like fantastic bonding session for all.
On the BBC after the final while being interviewed pitch-side she had to restrain herself even then. The reporter reminding her not to swear while broadcasting live. Maybe she's had a drink since though and forgot.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's part of her PR 'brand'.

Is there a double standard here I wonder?

It was ok for Jack to act the act the **** when he was pissed up for our treble celebrations and some of his social media content was fruity to say the least.

Am I alone in finding this massive hype and over-celebration a tad excessive?
OK, so they won a tournament and let's praise them even though they stuttered s few times en route to the title.

But the coverage on Tv, radio and in the press is getting on my wick.Tone it down a bit, please. It's just a European competition.

I know I'll be accused of misogyny, but I am not a woman-hater. The women's game just doesn't interest me, and I can't pretend it does.

Am I on my own here?

She just wanted her Micah Richards' moment.

It really is that big of a deal. First senior England team to retain a trophy as well as being the first one won overseas. History being made and deserves being recognised with a celebration.

If it gets more girls into football, I'm all for it

So; she swore. Hardly a hanging offence. I seem to remember "big Meeks"™ doing so (twice?), and people on here finding it hilarious. Double standards? Society has changed; swearing isn't seen as that big of a deal these days (you can argue that maybe it should be), and I'd agree it's not the best look for someone in as prominent a position in her profession as she clearly is right now. But that's modern society.

Good to see the Lionesses got a decent turn out, considering it was in the middle of a working day.

Kept her shirt on suggests she's calming it down this time around?

You're clearly not on your own, but we're now 2 days after they've won the Euros and they've just returned home.

Would you expect coverage of the men winning the Euros to be "toned down" at this point? Would you be calling that an "over-celebration"?

Didn't stop her dropping the f word on ITV straight after that!!

No, not having that, she is a woman, fuck all do with double standards, Richards was young and daft, and not on a stage in front of loads of young kids and families, mainly girls at that, her family must be embarrassed, and she had to be reminded again a bit later, Christ.

It isn't a hanging offence, agreed, but come on, time and a place and all that.

I did say in my post that it wasn't a good look.

Looks like she's said fuck/fuckin four times in the last few days live on TV. Probably thinks she's being cool and forgot that girls are watching this.

Worth giving her a bit of slack until the high has died down

Look, I dont think its really the right place to be effing and jeffing, but can we pack it in with the "mainly girls at that" type nonsense? Little girls dont needn't be protected from naughty words any more than boys.
