Manchester Airport police assault trial | Man found guilty of assaulting two female police officers

A firm example must be set. People must not be allowed to commit violent crimes on camera, in airports, without consequence.
Hope they get serious jail time, I just can't imagine being a copper, going to work and getting smacked in the face.

People should show them respect and comply with them.

Imagine being a copper and these fuckers get off then they will think I’ve done my job and arrested them and then goes to court and found not guilty why should I bother I might as well arrest a white guy more chance of a conviction.

This is one strange case. I'm not quite sure how any jury could find it hard not to find them guilty after viewing the footage we've seen. Aside from the violence against the police they were being arrested for attacking a passenger who was on the same flight as their mother. That's two assaults. Maybe the jury are afraid of repercussions if they find them guilty? The judge's remarks are bizarre too. What has their lack of previous convictions and good character got to do with their actions on that day? Normally he would make those remarks in his sentencing if they were found guilty, not before. All odd.

If they get off then it’s carte blanche for any criminal to repeatedly punch a copper arresting them and then claim “I feared for my life” as their defence

When this is taking so long to conclude it’s becoming easier to see why there is a backlog of 70,000 cases in the UK. The judicial system needs a complete overhaul

Anyway here’s hoping we get done good news later

There is some precedent. Kenneth Noye was acquitted of the killing of a police officer in 1985 using this defence ie feared for his life and didn’t realise it was a policeman.

The uniforms and location should have given the cunts a clue in this instance.

Well the copper in question was creeping about in his garden at night in a balaclava. Noye being a criminal would have made a fair few enemies so probably did fear for his life.

Totally different circumstances, I agree. Just pointing out that it has precedent as a defence, especially if the defence can demonstrate the police didn’t clearly state who they were (audibly) or they approached from behind (visually).

Whether it flies will depend on witness statements and video footage. The jury will have seen it all and make their judgment accordingly.

I wonder if they were also charged with headbutting the bloke in Costa Coffee? That was the original incident that sparked the police being called.

The bastards that assaulted the police and a passenger at the airport even said they didn't know that it was a woman they assaulted.

If these twats get off I can't see the police or public being very happy at all.

There’s three weeks of evidence to consider. There’s multiple charges against two separate defendants to reach verdicts on. Just over one day really isn’t that long, if they’re taking their duties seriously. Which thankfully they appear to be.

The whole thing is odd. There’s clear evidence of them violently assaulting police officers. The judge mentioning there good character! What on earth does that have to do with what they did.

There will be a huge backlash if these thugs aren’t locked up.

Amaaz was captured throwing 10 punches, two 'elbow strikes' and one kick, the trial has heard. His brother, Amaad, threw six punches during CCTV played to the jury at Liverpool Crown Court.

Not much to debate really is there.
The why's and wherefore's aren't up for questioning, this trial is about the level of violence aimed at serving police officers going about their duty.

Yup.

The "He looked at me funny" isn't a defence.

Exactamundo
If the first individual had thrown a couple of punches and then stopped, he may have had a defence. But he didn't and his brother joined in when he could clearly see they were police officers
There should only be one outcome

A majority verdict of 10-1 required. Which would suggest, at this moment, at least 2 jurors aren't feeling a guilty verdict.
