PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

No wonder the PL have been trying to delay things. They didn’t even have the authority to demand info from City over the six year limit. The PL has possibly been acting unlawfully again. It is similar to the APT case and presumably the PL could face action from City and other impacted clubs. No wonder it is taking so long for the Judges to unravel all this. The wording of their statement will have to take account of this complex situation. It is damage limitation by the PL to change the rules now even before the decision is published.
That's an improvement in itself where the PL is trying to make its own rules legal rather than deliberately slightly changing existing rules with a still illegal salami.

Nothing will be made fully legal until the PL are forced to have all rules and changes validated by their legal team before voting them in.

True, but nine clubs lol. Its three at a push, but in reality I think it will be between us and Liverpool again.

I think it's a 4 horse race this season. Arsenal have filled gaps where they needed players, so have a chance. Chelsea are definitely improving all the time. Then there's Liverpool and ourselves.

As for the others in the 9....?!

If he's saying 'capable of mounting a title challenge', then it doesn't at least mean winning it. You could at a very extreme push include Spurs and united in that because they haven't got the financial restraints put on them that others have. The PL rules almost enable them to have a chance of challenging at least. Though I'd expect any 'challenge' to be over after 2 months...

Then I guess there's Newcastle and that's seven mentioned. Though no idea what team they'll have by the end of this window, so a challenge would probably be too far for them. After that? Probably got to include Forest because they did well last year, even though they've no chance. Then who? Palace? Brighton? West Ham? Nah.

(edit - I forgot Villa, probably should include them)

So yeah, the short version is he's talking shite, but you knew that anyway!

I know a lot of us think, that the red clubs are spending money to keep up, as they know, as we do, that we are going to cleared of everything and have nothing to answer for.

However, being devil's advocate for a minute.....are they spending, as they see an opportunity, because they know we are going to be fucked for a number of years ?

Or am I coming down with typical City / cup for cock-ups syndrome again ?

Talksport are stating OCTOBER as a release date...Stefan to weigh in shortly...
I am literally fed up of hearing about the case and fed up of hearing wankers like TS claiming to know when the announcement will be. The facts are, nobody outside of 'those who need to know' know anything. The charges have just become a food staple that cretinous media outlets pull out of the cupboard when there is nothing else to cover that day. Kind of like a pack of old crackers you go to when the missus hasn't done the shopping.

As a solicitor myself, the longer it all goes on the less confident I am of the complete exhortation that many on here have hoped for. That being said, I do think that we will best the vast majority of charges.

Most of them are spending because Newcastle and Villa have shown them that they are well capable of catching up. So therefore the cartel has enforced their huge advantage in the PSR-influenced market aiming to break those type of challengers and increase the gap. Also United have done this for years already because they are a pathetic excuse of a football club and just finished 15th.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that Masters is laying the ground for his new career in the media. When the verdict comes out he is losing his current career.
He has changed his message from his last interview when he said he didn’t know the result. Now he is saying he can’t say anything because it’s confidential. He has at least a strong idea of the result.

Well its semantics yes, but surely a title challenge means he thinks they are capable of winning it. Chelsea an outside chance for me, but essentially I think it will either be City or Liverpool.

How can they accuse us of non-cooperation when it would have been illegal for City to give them confidential data from our sponsors. The new rule change reflects the reality. The PL can’t set rules which breach existing UK laws.

That’s a fair comment I think as “no evidence” would be fairly quick to write! I dunno what to think. But more delay is not great at all
