But thats like saying Doku is a 10 year investment...even though maybe hes not shown hes as good as we thought and maybe we overspent and in a year or 2, we might want to replace
Livramento hasn't shown the form you are talking about, you are assuming hes going to get there but real football, not FIFA etc. Isn't like that, progression isnt linear
£50mil to £80mil is a 60% increase on what we value him at, and given Newcastle stance on Isak who literally gone on strike I doubt they're budging much if they arent on Isak. If hes deemed too expensive then that's it.
The thought of Livramento up against Mbappe etc. Doesn't fill me with cconfidence either, nor does Livramento against a low block which 95% of the time we come up against as hes limited offensively
Livramento is much more a injury risk then Nunes, and id say Nunes is the better athlete in his pace and stamina, with a much better cross
I want Livramento, dont get me wrong, but calling the club out for now paying a ridiculous fee for a player can't be called penny pinching
And looking at his one particular signing as a lack of rebuild is just idiotic given how we've planned for the future and plug gaps i nthe squad with Cherki, Trafford, Reijnders, Ait Nouri, Marmoush, Khusanov, Nico, Reis etc.
We cant buy them all
Doku has been hung out to dry imo. He's a player that gets me off my seat, but clubs worked out his effectiveness could be negated by doubling/trebling up on him, as we contantly left him isolated.
However, with RAN in our ranks, he too can cause chaos on the over/underlap. Clubs can't dedicated between 4-6 players to negated both, hence I believe Doku will become far more effective now he has help. We saw this on RAN's debut in the CWC.
Livramento is a different kind of player to RAN. He's young & English, can play left or right, & neither Doku or Salad got much change when facing him last season.
If City were only looking at him as a player to buy & sell on, then I'd say we'd struggle to make that work at £80m. However, if we saw him as a long-term solution for that position, then at a possible 10 year stint at £8m per season, then hell yes I'd go for him.
Most defenders fear Mbappé & Vini Jnr. But when I think of either facing Livramento or Nunes, I'm sorry but in my personal opinion I'd have more faith in Tino every time. Having said that, you're entitled to believe that Nunes would be the better option. There, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
As for going into the season with Nunes as our main RB option, as I asked previously, what if Nunes gets an early season ending injury? What then? Lewis, Stones & Akanji as right backs?
We need to plug this glaring gap in our defence mate. This is blatantly obvious to me, even if you can't see it yourself. Again, we'll just have to agree to disagree as there's no right or wrong answers, just opinions, where ours evidently differ.
