Injuries 2025/26 | Kovacic could be ruled out for further 3-4 months (p37)

I think a lot of fans need to adjust their expectations this season re Rodders. We wont have him back as the Rodri we knew until 2026. There will be a few of these niggling injuries between now and then. Sensible of the club to manage him back. Nico G and Reijnders more than capable of covering.
I agree with the first part but not so sure we are capable of covering with those two. Anyway we will start finding out next Saturday.

That’s insane tbh if what he said is true. To not be fully match fit for 16 months after an ACL is a bit crazy, I remember Van Dijk looked good as ever around 10-12 months after. Our team is not good enough imo to challenge without Rodri. Outside of the LB position (Ait Nouri and Gvardiol) our entire backline is shaky either due to defensive quality (Rico, Ederson, Nunez) or terrible injury records (Stones, Ake, Dias) I hope Rodri comes back as good as ever by October at the very latest. 2017-2019 City where Kompany can be out for a season, or KDB can be out, and we’re still amazing, we’re not that squad anymore, we NEED. Our best players to play.

ACL injuries can take 18 months to full recover from.

It's all the other muscles in the legs that have atrophied because they are not being trained that are the big issue. Hence the niggles on the groin for Rodri.

Look at Tyrone Mings, he lost significant muscle loss when he had his ACL:

Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see the Ballon D'Or Rodri operating at that level again. That injury has seriously derailed his career and I'll think he'll always have difficulty staying injury-free from now on.
Fuckin hell- Bet you’re a right laugh at parties! ;-)

Unfortunately I think you're correct. There's never a good time to get an ACL, but 28 is especially bad. Right in his prime. This year he won't be anywhere near where he was and by the time his body fully heals he'll be in his 30's. I still expect him to be a very good, and possibly great, player but I don't think he'll ever be what he was before.

Pep says he wants a small squad - Injuries already so we are chasing our tails.
Yet here are others spending for fun and not even caring. Gundo,Kova Pivot it is then!! :-)

Also "a big injury" yet may feature in some of the 1st 3 games.

Pep needs to get a grip with Big!! Its probs muscle niggles after being out so long. Play Nico or move him on

There is no new injury. The BBC describes this as an injury setback but the setback was a month ago. Pep said that Rodri is not far off full fitness.

not good ,but hopefully he ia fully fit then, some early big games without him then
From the 28th July, when City returned for pre-season training we have known Rodri was injured.

It is good news because now we know he's not far away from playing but the BBC have distorted the news presenting it as a new injury setback when it is nothing of the sort.

This was very predictable.

Coming back off such a long injury players always pick up other injuries.

Hopefully Pep starts to trust Nico G as he is the best replacement we have in the 6 and I really hope he doesnt revert to gundo and Bernardo in the middle - we know how that works out

Its right not to risk him or rush him back but again it shows that there is a lack of depth in very certain positions - we really should have been working on shifting out some of the players we know from las season can not cut it anymore and bringing in fresh faces..
I can predict the past too.

He probably might be ready against Wolves ,but its not worth the risk, should beat them without him anyway.

I really hope this thread doesn't get filled much over the season.
Got a feeling it'll be rodders in and out of it as he's got the groin injury going on now but these are all part and parcel after an ACL as the body realigns itself.

No biggie. We got Rudolph to cover and Nico, we'll be fine.
