North Stand Construction Discussion

Ive been wanting to like this new build but I just can't. To me it looks horrible like a piece of lego stuck on the end.

Hopefully I'll change my mind when its finished
Kind of know what you are getting at but I think once the job is finished, with the covered fan zone and various big screens it will look good especially at night when lit up. I do hope they generally clean the area up once it's finished (the white roofs near the tram station & arena) and put in some mature trees as in the early artistic impressions to soften the whole look rather than just concrete and tarmac.

Turn the car park into an arboretum.

I’m with you on this mate. I have no intention of moving my SSL3 season ticket. Especially as the ‘atmosphere’ section of safe standing are the shitest seats in the new tier.

I think we are blessed to have an owner and chairman who continue to invest hundreds of millions of pounds even though they wanted a new stadium.

It’s a shame they’ve got an imbecile like Danny Wilson in charge of the ticketing

Yeah; I think the hotel and the adjacent office block give the stadium an unbalanced look from the air. They don't blend in with the stadium; at least, not yet. Maybe when they're finished?

Not going to matter too much to the fans inside the ground, I suppose. And I doubt that Sheikh Mansour will give a flying wotsit about what I think. It'll all lead to increased revenue, which is the bottom line these days.

Screenshot lifted from one of @cpoverview's wonderful videos. Keep up the good work CP.

I can get that, and you won't be alone in thinking that. It is fair, because that is exactly what they have done, as a conscious choice.

In some ways, at least they have committed to it one way or the other, rather than half arsing an attempt at making it 'fit' but mot getting it right, and then it is neither nor. At least they followed through on a specific approach. Imho.

Don't get the rush to get defensive over it. For a start, I said that I got his take, not that I necessarily shared it.

And it is a totally valid point and take. It was 100% valid the day the designs came out, it will be 100% valid decades after it is finished. People are allowed opinions.

Which is why we need to expand the sides so this end of the stadium doesn’t appear like a stuck-on carbuncle. 80,000, two huge side stands with state-of-the-art facilities, the best team in England, sensible ticket prices etc. Then and only then will this new expansion feel like what it actually is - a top class hotel and world-leading fanzone.

Let’s see how many that catches! :-) Up the Blues!

I suppose City want to fill the sides of the tier first, which will be harder to shift as match day tickets.

City will sell out the safe standing seats, even if the majority of the initial safe standing seats are located on both sides of the tier.

Hopefully the initial 3000 safe standing seats will sell out, and City will release another 1000 safe standing seats in the middle of the tier?

I'm not sure putting the majority of the safe standing fans on the sides of the tier may help the atmosphere.

Having 3000 standing fans and possible singing fans separated into what is effectively 3 different smaller groups instead of one large group of singers all stood together will help the atmosphere?

We'll eventually find out.
Fans will sing in the normal seats too. I guess the club will want to see who gravitates there and whether people in the normal seats choose to stand also. Ultimately they need to convince new ST holders to go there and existing ones too.
