Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Can’t wait for his 25 G/A season and then people claiming he isn’t consistent enough or whatever bullshit they spreading like they do with Palmer right now. Bobb doesn’t have winger pace and certainly won’t play 60 games + we have 7-8 players for 3/4 positions . WE ARE NOT STACKED. It’s the usual amount. Foden and Cherki are not wingers + to bring our cherki‘s full potential he needs wingers not more playmakers on the field.
Giving up savinho is dumb in my eyes and we will regret it very soon.

I'm not surprised he's keen on the move, as he was probably expecting us to say "not selling, fuck off", rather than "how much?".

If you as a player feel like you're not valued that highly, why not go somewhere you will be?

This is Palmer all over again. Years of "he wanted to leave, fuck him" instead of asking ourselves why. Shit squad planning and an inability or unwillingness to move on the players that need moving on. If Savinho thinks he won't get enough minutes, it's because Gundo, Kovacic and Bernardo will take the midfield minutes of Foden and Cherki, forcing them out onto the right. Not rocket science.

Need to get rid of gundo, ortega, akanji etc before we start to sell players in a position we're not exactly stacked in. Savinho serves a purpose to the squad and isn't just a backup. Don't want to see Bobb and Foden having to play as touchline wingers in games where we need a forward to hold the width.

Never mind moving on McAtee, Grealish, Phillips etc

Bobb certainly seems a more intelligent player, maybe not as quick but more of a Pep player than Savinho.

Odd one though, Pep spent a lot of last season praising Savinho.

I would say for £60-70m it’s edging towards a no brainer, he’s not a guaranteed starter and he can’t play on the inside which is key for the new wingbacks system on display. The rest of them can (Foden, Bobb, Echeverri, Cherki, Marmoush and even Doku).

And we have our replacement ready for free in Bobb. We’d be doubling our money in a year and freeing up a foreign spot.

If we lose Savio and manage to sell McAtee and loan Grealish we could go for a player but it’s finding the right player that fits the rotation and the system

Grealish is gone to Everton thats very advanced according to Paul Joyce. The thing is Afcon will hurt us this season Ait nouri and Marmoush will be gone. With Savinho sale your wing options next season are even more limited.

Problem is as i said in my original post is that IF he is saying he wants out it really shows something about his character that he aint up for the fight for a first team place - that says everything....I can actually see Sav as a Spurs player.....good player but ultimately not up for it at the very top.
Foden stayed and fought for his place
Bobb has had options to go out on loan and chose to stay (before he broke his leg)

Palmer wont reach the heights everyone thinks he will....very good player but he isnt a player to lead you to CL winners and PM league winners - he wont hit the heights of a KDB, Gundo, Foden, Kompany, Walker, Haaland etc.....he is a step below those level of players.
If Savinho goes, it’s more likely to be because we need to cut our cloth having failed to measure properly.

I agree. For me, the big difference between Palmer and Savinho is that Palmer didn’t really get the chance to prove himself here. He believed he was good enough to play regularly for us and therefore would be a success elsewhere. He has been proven right.

Savinho has had the chances Palmer didn’t get but has largely failed to deliver. Hes not getting the same amount of chances this year if he stays. Maybe he sees the writing is on the wall and has decided he is better off securing a big pay rise and therefore his future elsewhere?
Good post.

That’s possible, but that further concentrates play in the middle and requires touch and quick movement in smaller spaces, which is not Haaland’s forte.

I suspect we’re going to be taking options off the table to accommodate players who don’t give us that many options.
Not really though I think Haaland is better than some think, but it requires quick passing of the 3 behind him and the 2 fullbacks, plus Reijnders, We have that it just requires Haaland's movement to get into positions to receive the ball which he can do very well.

Not wrong, bringing Gundo back was a huge mistake especially on a 2 year deal? Kova was given too long of a contract as well. Hoping Bernardo plays a bit part but I'm not exactly holding my breath

Bobb has been the Palmer replacement, the Alvarez replacement and now the Savinho replacement, all without actually starting more than half a dozen games for us.

I love the kid, but this is not good squad planning.

His poor finishing cost us massively last season.

If the club is open to a sale than that tells me they don’t think it’s going to improve with more game time.

Awful finish in front of goal v Palermo, maybe he hasn’t got the bite for goals.

He’s enjoyable to watch but I have a feeling we’ll need to be banging in goals for fun this season.

I cant believe people are losing their mind over us potentially "only" more than doubling our money on a "attacking" non-homegrown player with 1 goal scored in 29 league games in what was our worst season in a decade.

Sounds like a player the club really rates.

Shame he had that injury last year he was ready to really excel on my opinion
