Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I get what you’re saying but the club couldn’t legislate for a broken leg, just when it looked like Bobb was in the cusp of something very decent. He has a lot to prove but with Sav gone, he might actually get that chance. If Sav was to stay, there will be a hell of a lot of chopping and changing on that right wing and I’m not sure that does anyone any favours. How many times have we seen players hit form only to be benched? I’m not a fan of that at all.
I love Bobb and think he's the better player. But why is it either or? Savinho played his best football on the left for us last season, there'd be plenty of minutes for both with Marmoush going to AFCON and Doku having a poor injury record. And if something happened to Erling, Marmoush would be needed up front and Doku would be our only option on the left.

It's silly.

I like savinho and I think he is a good player who is likely to improve
But I get the feeling pep and Hugo have looked at Liverpool and Arsenal and decided we need to target top quality.
We need to be ruthless. savinho, doku, nunes and mcatee are all not at the level we used to have
if we can get a decent fees then we have to let good players leave and target top quality ones
Nobody else will be arriving. We need to sell because we have established players under contract who have all declared themselves fit and raring to go, just as they have every season, and who are unwilling to leave.

Pep played him 3000 mins last season why do you think pep will not give him the same time? Tells me he thinks he ain’t going to get game time and tells me he is more worried about his international career! He is still young he could stay mature a player under pep become one of our best players in 2/3 years like a lot of players have done! He ain’t got the fight if he happy to move!
I don't agree, he obviously thinks that he has more chance of succeeding at Spurs. Obviously as City fans we don't like that, and believe that it's a step down, but it's his decision, it doesn't mean he hasn't got fight in him

Being out for a year with a broken leg makes it even more ridiculous to just assume he will be fit all season.

He was held back when he was back in training to make sure he comes back stronger and we know a broken bone once healed is stronger or as strong want effect him! You can say that with every player “what if” Funny people argue there opinion and never budge! These things are never black or white.

More talented than Raheem although he'd have to play til he's a 100 to score the same number of goals!
Better than Doku and Grealish.

Is he likely to be as good as Sane or Mahrez?

That's the question and it's difficult to answer at this stage.

I guess you could argue that if he improves his finishing the he could be very good but this makes grim watching

I knew his shooting was bad but that is fucking abysmal. I’m surprised there’s not a huge line of PL defenders with fucked shins with him and Grealish knocking fuck out of them every week.

Approx. 25% of those “shots” were against Spurs and Franks Brentford, it makes you wonder why they’re even interested.

Nobody else will be arriving. We need to sell because we have established players under contract who have all declared themselves fit and raring to go, just as they have every season, and who are unwilling to leave.
Just tell them like Grealish they're not wanted. One of them will surely leave I'm talking Akanji, Gundo, Kovacic

When I say we need better quality I’m not saying we’re gonna buy anyone or not I’m talking in general.
You have no idea if anyone else is arriving and neither do I
If savinho left and Rodrygo arrived it wouldn’t surprise me
We bought Trafford when we have Ortega and Ederson
There’s lots of moving parts at the moment

He's 21. He shouldn't even be considered to be going out the door, not unless we bring in a top class winger to replace him like Rodrygo. When we've got Akanji, Ake and Gundogan at the club, why is he the first one considered to be moving on? Makes zero sense. It takes more Bobb and Doku injuries to have no available wingers for selection.
If its 70 million for someone who scored 2 goals in 44 games last season, then its good business imo. He has potential but as he proved last season, he’s miles off being ready to start so many games as he did for us.

We might get a few million for the 3 players you mentioned. Thats why he is going!! Every player has his price, if its £70 million then its good business imo
It’s a baffling decision. If there are players who should be first out the door, it’s Gundogan and Akanji - not Savinho. Pep seems reluctant to admit that Gundo and Akanji have become surplus to the requirements at this football club. Sentimentality and sympathy will get us nowhere, and hasn't post treble. Handing Bernardo the captain’s armband while entertaining the idea of selling Savinho feels like a step backwards, not forwards. I hope we replace Savinho with Rodrygo, or can use Savinho sale to bring a top quality right back in.

Going in with Bobb and Doku as our wingers considering their injury records is crazy.
is it?? We have too many potential players out wide. Savinho/Doku/Bobb. We’re too unbalanced as a squad. We also have Cherki/Bobb/Foden/Silva/Doku along with Savinho who can play on the wing. Too many and someone had to go.

He played 44 games last season and scored 2 goals. He isnt ready “yet” to play so many games for a top club, as he proved. If its £70 million as is being reported, then its completely understandable we are choosing to sell!!

If Savinho goes, it’s more likely to be because we need to cut our cloth having failed to measure properly.
Maybe - that could be a reason the club are willing to sell.

However a player goes only if they want to go...its not the club offering him out for sale...Its Sav saying he wants to go...big difference....

If he is looking at the squad and saying I cant hold down a starting position cause there is potentially Foden (who aint a wide player) and Bobb (who has barely played but is a potential huge talent) and thinking he cant get that starting spot then that shows something about his mindset. Cherki I dont think is going to play wide by the look of it so its literally just Bobb and potentially Foden ahead of him

And if he cant think of himself getting ahead of Bernardo Silva there then again that says it all about his mindset.

Sometimes young players just want it all too quickly...yes it worked out for Cole Palmer - to an extent - they won the CWC..but where did they finish last season? Was it behind us who had one of the worst seasons ever under Pep and we still finished above them...did Cole Palmer carry that team to new heights...no he didnt.

Edit: plus with Grealish going there is more opportunity on the left as well...

Tis smells of a player wanting too umch too quickly

Yeah agree in part but the answer is in your post he feels he has “more chance at spurs to succeeding” at being the main man! He has fight on the pitch but it’s more than that it’s belief he can be better and number one winger! It seems he looking at the players who play in his position and thinks he be not getting game time! We will facilitate a player if he wants out as long as we get the fee we want!

He's a good player that Kevin tbf

Unsure on Savinho, I think it's the right thing to do if we get 70 million for him and get the space to sign a Livramento. I do feel he has a few higher levels to reach though Savinho and this could easily blow up in our faces and become Palmer 2.0. Tricky call to make. Time for Hugo to show his mettle.
