Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

Been reading Enrique's explanation. He says Donnarumma is a fantastic goalkeeper and even better person. But PSG need to improve and he's implying that someone with better feet will help.

Now if we are going to get the ball forward quicker, play to the strengths os Marmoush, Haaland et maybe it's not an issue.
This is why I think it’s probably hokum

The only issue issue I have with this is that we're one of the worst teams in the league without the ball.

Our backline is nowhere near good enough to absorb the pressure a direct play style would cause and our midfield solidity relies entirely on a player who hasn't been fit for almost a year.

We definitely were last season, but Reijnders and RAN will help no end with that plus we have the best player in the world to come back into midfield.

GK Donarumma
RB Wan Bissaka (perfect Walker replacement)
CB Ruben Dias
CB Gvardiol
LB Ait Nouri
CM Rodri
CM Reijnders
RW Cherki - Foden
CAM Marmoush
LW Rodrygo - Doku
ST Haaland

I struggle to see anyone beating this team in the league. Ofc these are rumoured transfers, but fuck me, if we pull this off….

Sorry, I just don’t understand why we are signing him. (If true). Are we completely changing our way of playing from the back? He has been left out at PSG because he can’t/wont play the distributor with the feet role. ( A row about it has been reported.) PSG obviously don’t think his shot stopping makes up for the lack of feet. Do we think the opposite?
What the fuck is going on?
Oh, by the by, someone on here challenged my view that players were now mere commodities.
Players have always been commodities. Hence transfer values. That seems a strange argument for someone to make.

I don't see why this in causing such great confusion. Donnarumma is one of the best keepers in the world and City are likely going to lose both our keepers from last season very soon, and the chance comes along to buy one of the best keepers in the world.

I don't know much about the new keeper that PSG have signed. Perhaps he is as good or better and they can pay him less money. They are all powerful now and have shifted the dial from Galacticos to young stars. Perhaps it's one of those deals that would suit PSG for their own reasons, and City because we need personality, and ability?

There manager has literally said he wants a different "style of keeper" while acknowledging Donarumma is the best keeper in the world.....

This is what Pep did with Joe Hart all those years ago. Everyone knew Hart was a decent shot stopper but probably couldnt adapt to playing out with his feet...

Pep will have to change his style of build up with Donarumma cause if he doesnt he will just get pressed and give goals away
What I read was a 'different profile'. There might be more than one interview though.
