Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

It’s incredible how good Trafford has become on here over the past 24 hours. He’s been playing in the Championship for Burnley, proven absolutely nothing at the top-level but is the only keeper who can replace Ederson.

Definitely. Ever since he signed, I felt like he was there to be the understudy for Ederson and then to move up to start when the time is right.

The gulf between Prem and Championship is massive for quality, let alone being Prem and UCL contenders. Trafford shouldn't be the starter right now.

The numbers involved for Eddie are so small it’s questionable it’s even worth fighting over. I love Eddie but he’s gone in 12 months for free anyway and at that point Donnarumma is unlikely to be available. I’d rather Eddie went (at any price) and we got Donnarumma in now, instead of scrambling around next summer.
Wonder if we're pissing about with Gala so we can get the PSG lad over the line first and look in a stronger position.

Or maybe he was told the situation, and decided to back himself. Sometimes when the opportunity comes you have to take it. Most likely scenario he'll play a similar number of games as Ortega over the next few seasons, win a few trophies and then get a decent move when he decides. He'll still be young and have a long career ahead.

You probably should have stayed in bed a little longer.

And Pep would point and laugh at you.
But we keep being told if you want out Pep will not keep you. Perhaps you allow people to walk all over you. Some do not

Donarumma is better keeper than Ederson , but he is very poor with his feet , I can't see Pep going for him . He would be a good signing for Chelsea, Manure

But he just won a championships league with a team that play quick and direct football. They're not long ball merchants with the keeper hoofing it 70 yards in any direction .

He didn't hinder PSG's ability to play good football and be successful.

Besides, Ederson has to be replaced at some point. No keeper can match Ederson in terms of their feet, so we're never getting a direct replacement. So with that in mind, it's better to accept Ederson is one of one and just go for the best shot stopper.

Loads of keepers are billed as being good with their feet. Onana being one of them and he clearly isn't. He's probably decent with his feet in comparison to 90s keepers but he's not Ederson. That's basically what we'll end up with if we ever think we're getting a keeper with good feet in.

The two deals have to go hand-in-hand. Signing Donnarumma and Eddie staying would be a blunder. Letting Eddie go and Donnarumma not arriving would be a complete disaster.

We could let Eddie go and still be left with 3 goalkeepers, we should be concentrating on a RB :)

And mistakes with his feet, players not wanting to go back to the keeper and needlessly giving the ball away also gives goals away.
So you want to stick with Ederson who off next summer anyway and at the moment any shot on target is a goal

If I was Trafford and Donnarumma signed I would be knocking on the managers door and telling him I want out. My interpretation would be that he signed on the expectation that Ederson would leave once his contract expired and not before. Once Ederson left he would be the No1 choice. However if Ederson leaves and Donna' signs it is reasonable to assume he will be the No1 choice and given his age for a considerable time. If this transpires we have made a total cock up of this. It's not as though the rumour mill in relation to Donna' has not been in operation. I sincerely hope I am wrong in this
That's funny..:)

Trafford must feel like he was drowning at sea and got rescued by the Titanic

From a PSG supporting French football expert - I think the ideal scenario is Ederson sees out his final year.

There are a lot of reports framing him as a player absolutely not fit for our system, so it is very strange that Pep and Hugo would be pursuing this deal

I don’t think many people are saying he should be a starter straight away, but your first point is what most people would expect ie a clear pathway to the first team and learn from Ederson.

If we sign donnaruma, Trafford would have no chance of becoming our first choice keeper. So a very different scenario
