Wolves (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Who was the rum fucker in the match thread who 10 mins in declared Bobb had done nothing for somebody who was supposed to be miles ahead of Savinho haha
King Jay. He has been all over the transfer thread with some advice as well haha.
There was also ws01 who went off on Haaland calling his decline alarming 20 minutes into the season.

Didn't see that!

They really didn't have a clue how to handle Bobb. He mixes up playing slowly with tricky bursts of speed really well, and can go on either foot. Think he tired late on understandably, but great for him to have big involvements in a couple of the goals.

I found it but I get people are excitable on a Saturday night after a few shandy’s, I’ve been the same on many occasion!

He’s such a good footballer to watch, the ball just sticks to his feet. Like you say he can go either way, excited for this season to see what he can do

What’s with this shit on Sky - fucking making out like we’ve been out of the picture for years when in reality we’ve had a bad four months during a time of horrendous injuries.

Sky are cunts.

Madness isn’t it? It’s ridiculous how overlooked it’s been that we were the most in-form team from Christmas until the end of the season.

Quick mention for haaland. Fucking guy is a legend. Shame ESPN thinks Cole Palmer is a better player. Clowns to the left of me...

13 goals off his Prem 100 in 98 games the amount of disrespect shown is unbelievable really.

Looked like he enjoying today akin to first and second seasons he was back on the press.

The Boys in Blue didn't give in, they fought to the end. Thank you City, thank you lads and thank you fans. You did us proud. You showed 'em, you showed 'em all.
Especially that daft lot at Wolves, The ABC Murders turned into the CHR Murders as our players scored their goals.
Especially the so called professional media lot of know nowts. Ha, ha, ha.
Especially the (alleged) cheating so and sos who officiated the game but do not understand the rules.

However today I let them off with a little GLARE as we beat them all fair and square.
Welcome back John Boy you did us proud as well. YYYYeeeesss. John Boy for ever. ;-) :-)

Now is probably not the time to not be giddy. So let's by all means be giddy for a bit. But I'd just like to say that we won our first four games at the start of last season, and did it playing some pretty good football. At that point, the bookies had us nailed on to do five in a row. There were some early warning signs if you were vigilant enough, and the football, if not exactly exciting, was let's say efficient, up until when we went out of the League Cup against a not very good Spurs side. Then we fell off a cliff.

The difference, of course — and it's huge — is that the team had barely been renewed, that Pep himself had perhaps got a bit stale. Those results masked an underlying staleness and fatigue, and the fact that at least three players had gone past their best, and could not be the engines they were in the past. That was compounded by us losing our Ballon d'Or player basically for the year.

There'll be teething problems, there'll be ups and downs, but with Pep having committed to two more years, Viana in, Lijnders in, and all the new signings showing a lot of promise, staleness will not be a problem this year. What there will not be is that black hole that we fell into at the end of October through to the end of December. If I owned a house, I'd stake it on that.
Liverpool have strengthened well — if they get Isak then that's some fearsome artillery up front. Arsenal have strengthened judiciously and may have finally got themselves a striker. Chelsea must be reckoned with. Nobody's stayed still. The competition will be stern, perhaps sterner than ever. But we will have our say.
And maybe the players needed the hurt of losing to rediscover the hunger for winning. Maybe us too.

made me laugh last year when they slagged our defence off that conceded the 3rd least goals
Compared to the ridiculous heights of previous seasons, they weren't as good. But that horrendous period last autumn/winter distorted the stats. I'd love to know where the defence ranked from January to the end of the season.

The speed at which we attacked was really refreshing to watch after last season. Shades of the centurions. Pep Lijnders influence..?
I think the first 20 mins helped when Wolves were putting 2-3 vs 1 on Doku and Bobb. It was never going to be sustainable.

Not bad if you like a decent perfomance and four goals and shit like that.

We're still giving away a worrying amount of chances and half chances though. A good team could have put at least three past us today with the chances Wolves had.

Still ... COYB. Great start. Some amazing debuts there. Reijnders looked the dogs danglies. Trafford excellent too.
Kind of agree but surely Rodri will help here . Against low blocks though we are now sorted.

In fairness we absolutely ran Erl into the ground last season seemed like he never got a break until he got injured don't blame him for not being a pressing machine. I liked that he came off at a decent time today despite being on a hattrick, the bigger picture is more important.

It was the perfect performance almost to start off a season.
New signings looked good
Gonzalez looked good
Bobb looked good

We need to keep Lewis also.

When you consider some of the names that weren't involved in the squad today (Foden, Rodri, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Ederson)*, maybe the future isn't as gloomy as the "glass half empty" mob would have you believe.

*Didn't include those on the bench, only those not there at all.

Great start. New lads look boss, Haaland looking like Haaland, clean sheet.

Let's keep top spot from now until the end of the season.

Thanks for spoiling my first game of the season celebrations, barely been renewed with four debuts?
