Wolves (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The number was just my house number, but 115 is very relevant now.

But in a match I can go optimist, pessimist, pragmatist and sadomasochist within 10 seconds.

Football is a silly game. And it should be enjoyed by silly people.
Nothing meant in malice - I'm feeling were on for 5x more in a row as just loving us being great to watch again after last year :)

3 academy players started the game and another one came on, I think that's great to see and none of them looked particularly out of place. Lewis does need to learn to calm down and keep his mouth shut though.

Comfortable performance for the first game of the season. Reijnders motm but I also thought Nico was excellent an under the radar performance. Much tougher tests to come and I'd love to see us include Cherki from the start. Pep has a right job on his hands with this squad as it stands

I predicted 2-0 so very happy with that.
The new signings were outstanding.
Concerns: We still are not making enough chances which means we need to take the few make and be sure our defence is watertight at the same time. Better teams would have scored today.

Can't blame him to be honest, he was clattered several times, gets hit because if his size no doubt and should get more protection from the refs. He was clattered with two players bearing down on him just before half time and the ref gave a corner to Wolves, (no big deal now, but it's the sort of thing that could have led to a goal and potentially changed the match), and again twice in the second half. Doherty alone committed four potentially bookable fouls before finally getting a card.

BBC commentator gleefully exclaiming that cherki cost 46 million pounds. Literally 12 million quid off. Do better you cunts.
So what, still a bargain compared to what a lot of players are being traded for. We've half rebuilt a squad for what Liverpool paid for one player.

First 25 mins were a bit wobbly but the back four were excellent throughout, which meant for all the noise and pressure Wolves didn't really test Trafford at all.

Then we just started winning it higher up the pitch and then the two goals came almost immediately. After that we were pretty much plain sailing. Big day for Reijnders and Cherki.

But special mentions to Trafford, Rico, and Bobb who were all great, and Stones and Gonzalez who were both quietly imperious. It's nice to know we have options without Rodri.

Feeling good about this season you know.
Genuinely think the only thing that can stop us is injuries!
That's all that stopped us last season despite every man and his dog going into meltdown and looking for excuses that we didn't need. Liverpool's points tally wouldn't have been enough to catch us in any of the seasons that we won it.

City fans so quiet today until we took the lead, it sounded that way on sky anyway
Thought we were decent today, always difficult to create atmosphere there, the away end is such a narrow bank, it makes it difficult to get songs going as one.
Good to see a lot of regulars there today and few tourists for a change.
Train back was a joke! Disappointing to see a bit of Blue on Blue in a packed carriage.

Doku’s case wasn’t helped by some of the positioning his teammates took up, especially in the first half. He would lift his head and see two standing in a line, so that meant he only had one pass on instead of two; I guess that’s down to not playing often enough. Last year, he was able to feed Gvardiol for the goal at Wolves, but today we didn’t have anyone capable of such a shot. That said, overall he didn’t have a particularly effective game there last year either. It often feels as if he wants to get too close to his defender and use his brawn rather than his brain.
Biggest problem for Doku is nobody gets in position for him, they expect him to beat 4 defenders then give them a three yard pass for a tap in. He always ties up at least two defenders, often three or more but we don't use that to our advantage then he gets the blame when nothing comes if the move because he had nobody to pass to. I feel for him at times.

Im giving nothing but love for the following:

--Reijn Man was awesome - he will be an absolute star.
--Bobb started to shake the rust off and he offers more with rust attached than Savi does match fit.
--Stones looked his old self.
--Lewis was really measured and good
--Trafford was composed
--Nico G was solid
--Haaland shut up the announcers who kept going on about how he is essentially a detriment
--Bernie was all over the shop mopping up and looking good.

Im giving a pass to RAN who looked a bit flustered at times but seemed okay late on.

Doku looked about like the same player he has been. Some hope he can improve but 2Mars is the much better option on the left flank.

The doghouse belongs to Ruben IMO. He looked lost, struggled with several early terrible passes and looked like he was not comfortable against a pretty poor Wolves attack.

I have measured optimism for this club but the acquisitions we've made thus far are clicking and for a cut rate price compared to a few other clubs. Have to find our steel at the back as this team will find goals. Have to do without Rodri until theres only the slimmest doubt regarding his fitness.

I don't know if we need a true number 1 in Donerummer or not. Trafford made a few stops today thst imo are likely goals with Eddie or Ortega in net. Just not sure Trafford is ready for the full time job just yet.
