Yes but winning balls into the box especially from set pieces is one part of a keepers job.I don't have a strong opinion on buying Donnarumma or not, would probably prefer another year of Ederson and Trafford biut it will be what it is,whatever the club decide. But the concensus is aerial challeges and his distubution are weaknesses and can't just dismiss them because Julian Laurens pointed them out. who has probably watched more of PSG than any of us.
It is obvious that Ederson wants to leave. If we sell Ederson, then we are reliant on Trafford and Ortega. Trafford is untested at this level whilst Ortega is a good no. 2. Rationally, if we sell Ederson, we should bring in a top-class experienced replacement such as Donnarumma.

Like I say I'm easy either way, whatever the club decide, Donnarumma doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I'll leave it to the experts.

Agreed and luckily, it seems Viana isnt stupid either.

Players with Donnarumma's profile don't come along very often. For the reasons you've mentioned it's simply too good an opportunity to turn down. Hopefully the club can manage Trafford so we don't lose him long-term, but if they do sign Donnarumma I will totally understand it. I certainly wouldn't be happy if we ended up signing for another Premier League team, when we had the opportunity to bring him in.

Think it's too early to judge Trafford based on the one game, although I think he did what he had to do pretty well

It's a long old season, and no doubt he'll have his moments at either end of the scale, but I just think it's a lot to ask for him to be the number 1 straight away, it's just a shame that the only alternative is us bringing in another keeper rather than allowing Trafford to be understudy to Ederson for a year

We've got what looks like a really good squad this season, and one that could potentially be involved in all competitions come the end of the season, I'm just not sure the club will risk that with Trafford as number 1

Thats no slight on his ability either, just that the club may not want to take that risk just yet

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. I understand that with the Txiki/Viana handover there would be some teething issues but for a club that has, since Ferran and Txiki arrived, had an incredibly consistent long term and unflappable transfer plan, this feels well left field. We've known Ederson has wanted out for ages so to let his succession planning transpire in the way this has feels very out of character for the club. To then replace him with a very different profile of keeper makes this even stranger. I have no idea if Trafford is good enough to be our number 1 but at least there is a consistency in profile there.

Either way, not a hill I'm ready to die on. If we sign him then naturally I'll hope it works out well. He's not done too badly for PSG.

Ideally if Ederson goes we’d want an older experienced keeper to work alongside Trafford who could step in and deputise if he loses form or confidence

I don’t think Donnarumma is the right profile for what we need

But I don’t think Ederson will leave unless we are pushing him out the door and based on Pep’s comments we’re not

He wants out without question mate otherwise it wouldnt have gone this far?

£10-15m is nothing in the grand scheme of things

He’s still contracted for another year, we convince him to stay until next year , when he can then bank that money for himself

I’m an ederson fan but if Donna is looking for a new club we have to get rid of Ederson and get him in. Mainly to prevent the rags from getting him as he’d improve them a lot.

Well I'm glad you're not responsible for our transfer activity. Signing players just so someone else doesn't get them is small time and what the rags have been doing for the past decade. Look where it's got them!

I would want to know how Trafford does buffeted by Arsenal at setpieces, and how at 22 would you handle a bad error.
That's fair but I think he's less likely to struggle and make the mistake in the first place compared to Donnarumma.

By all accounts from the people that have worked with Trafford he has a top mentality when it comes to brushing off errors.

We can afford his wages.

He makes fewer mistakes than Ederson.

He’s not a problem child.

He’s one of the best keepers in the world and had several matches in the CL last season which bettered any two matches Ederson has ever had for City.
We can afford his wages, but do we want another Haaland size wage bill when we are trying to get control of it, he is a better keeper than Edison, always has been, going back to 16 he was a better keeper, but he has always made mistakes, more than Ederson? probably, he has always been the problem child since getting his regular first team spot. Would i have him, oh yes, but i wonder why PSG have brought in the equivalent of Kasper Schmeichel as they can afford him as well.
