I was watching all of these games mate, and also his decline. To be fair I went too far with my original comment, I'm not saying Hart wasn't a brilliant and talented goalkeeper. My point is more that good as Hart was, Ederson is a cut above even that. He redefined the position at the top level. He's played for City for longer and achieved more but in this thread I've seen people genuinely trying to argue that he's only the 5th best City keeper of all time and that provoked my reaction.

I couldn’t comment re the likes of Trautman and Corrigan as I was too young mate.

Since I’ve been watching City (about 87/88) I’d say Hart is the best “pure” goalkeeper I’ve seen.

You have to say Hart gets the nod due to longevity but James was excellent for us. That Chelsea game where Anelka scored a penalty, nothing would have beaten him that day.

James made one of the best saves I’ve ever seen, think it was the return game away from home, late on from point blank range. Think it was 0-0? The only team Mourinho’s megamoney first Chelsea side couldn’t score past that season
We’ve always had a tradition of iconic keepers at City, from Swift and Trautmann days, through Big Joe, Big Alex the trailblazer for black keepers in this country, Coton, Hart etc
And our youth teams/academy have always produced plenty for other clubs as well
Eddie is right up there with the greats, the (fully earned) medals can’t lie
Such a proud history makes those weird interludes of Immel, Tracey, Siddall etc even more depressing
