CITY 1 MAN UTD 0 19th August 2007:

Sven Goran Eriksson remembers the game in his Autobiography.
To the City fans,it was by far the season’s most important game. After my first press conference as City manager,a City supporter had come up to me and told me that l should just forget all that talk about finishing as high up the table as possible and getting into Europe. Beating United, and preferably twice, was the only thing that mattered. Everything else was secondary.I wanted to beat United, too, especially Ferguson, but United dominated the match. Less than ten minutes from the start, Bojinov was seriously injured and had to be substituted. United created a slew of goal opportunities and should have won the match in the first half hour. Then, suddenly, Geovanni got the ball in the United half, advanced and hit a speculative shot from outside the penalty area. The ball was deflected slightly off a United defender and went in at the bottom of the post. The City fans went nuts. United continued to dominate, but we defended extremely well and the game ended 1-0 to us. After the match, Ferguson and I had a glass of red wine together as was the custom in England. He showed no bad feelings and congratulated me. I would be lying if I said I did not feel an enormous amount of satisfaction. We had won the first derby. We were top of the league after three matches with nine points and no goals conceded… A huge poster of me was put up in the city with the words ‘Old blue eyes is back’. City fans were offered free Thai food in Albert Square. Everything was almost too good to be true.

“20 sprints” (the most) They’ve got to be happy with that stat, it’s made me smile anyway .. It doesn’t even mention what end he was sprinting to :)
Darius Vassell would have laughed in the face of 20 sprints in a game , even if most of those ended up going nowhere in particular..

18 of the sprints were off the pitch to get the ball for a throw in.

Micah and the Dunnie Monster were absolutely immense that day, as they were in the return at the swamp.

Sven brought a much needed sense of optimism and pride back to City supporters that season, which was the start of the fantastic journey we’ve experienced over the last decade and a half.

That statman Dave's twitter feed is wild. Find it strange he seems to use his account for professional work but seems to be so biased he can't help but post nonsense:

statman dave needs to realise that despite all his pathetic bluster and trying to use stats to tell a story there is one stat that matters and only one, how many goals did you score, how many goals did you concede, everything else is just bluster to pander to idiot youtubers who need to get out of their mums basement.

Micah “that was 15 years ago”

Dunbey “blimey a Decade and a half ago”

Micah “I wouldn’t go

I was amused by his description of Amad’s “explosive cameo.” The crowd got hysterical as he repeatedly ran aimlessly down the right flank before hoofing it wildly into the box. I don’t think he lifted his head once or completed a single pass to his teammates. United have become a national laughing stock.

Honestly the press is like pravda where these lot are concerned, they want you to believe the narrative rather than your actual eyes

These stats confirm what I watched. That the United players ran around like headless chickens with no end product. They resembled a lower league team playing one of the Big Guns in an FA Cup tie.
I did not watch, so I am "surprised" after reading all the comments on here that the press and Rags actually thought that they played well. Well I say surprised, but I know which narrative I believe and its the one from this forum. Guy at work thinks they are definitely top 4 material after that match (in which they lost!). And this I believe is why they have been struggling - total arrogance and belief in the media and their "right" to be at the top end of the league - they can't see the actual issues they have.

100%
The fanbase, media and YouTubers have all lost their minds
Talking about how United were the better team, should have had a penalty and ‘deserved to win’

The reality is, they ran around a bit more than usual, whacked the ball in the box every chance they got got but still didn’t have any clear cut chances or even look like scoring - similar to how Wolves, Leeds, Sunderland etc will play Vs better sides.

They are shite. Yes, they will finish higher than they did last season but not much higher on that showing

It's really weird the way that he acts considering his supposed position. Also probably highlights the editorial stance of the BBC and Sky towards United which is why you're seeing breathless arse kissing over a 1-0 defeat.

Napoli are set to enter the race to sign Manchester United and Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund, 22, who is in talks with AC Milan. (Sport Italia - in Italian)

Race” lol more like a leisurely Sunday morning stroll through treacle.
More like the reduced items bin at the till at B&M’s. They were pushing stale crumpets on Saturday. And that’s what Hojlund is now, the “stale crumpet”.

Arsenal were very poor the other day. They certainly didn't play like I thought they would at a side who finished just above relegation, and have been playing like non-league part timers for the past couple of years. If we had gone there instead of Arsenal we would have had 10, so would the dippers, a few other clubs would easily have hit 5 or 6 because the rags were that bad.
The media can put whatever spin they want on it, but the rest of us in the real world can see that the rags are just not very good.
