Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

The main issue for me with this signing and any keeper other than Ederson, is that we will have to change the entire way we play. We are set up for the gk to pass out the back, going long seems impossible, unless Haaland wins the ball
Yeah i agree.

To me we either keep Ederson, buy someone who can play with his feet, or Pep changes the style of our play.
In the first two games it seems Pep is not keen to change the way we play.

So with said i don't get the clamour for Donnarumma.
He's shite with his feet and one of the reasons Enrique wants to get rid.
If he doesn't rate him for the way he wants his teams to play, why would Pep?

It was an absolute nightmarish debut.

What annoyed me more than anything was how when we were 2-0 down, he showed no urgency to get on with the game. Someone in the crowd shouted you're not at Burnley now, get an f'ing move-on. They were right.

Goodbye Trafford. You are not even close to the level required to play for this club. Work on your game, especially fast distribution, and in the meantime City need to either extend Ederson's deal or bring in Donnarumma.
Thought he played well on his debut.

Today, not so much.

This is the remaining transfer priority. Either extend Ederson's contract, or sign Donnarumma. I was very wary of Trafford because of his age, but his performance v Spurs was very poor. We cannot go into the new season with Trafford as our No.1 or even No. 2. He is that bad.
Not sure we can call him bad off one game Ederson himself has had many games as bad

IMHO if you need a keeper that can use his feet.. you give Eddie 400k a week if you have to instead of thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

I don't get this signing. He is definitely an elite shot stopper, but struggles with his feet. I doubt if Pep will change his philosophy of playing out from the back. This seems like a signing for the next manager rather than for the current setup

Agreed, i think we've seen enough, i'd give Eddie a new contract.

Teams have seen we're playing the same way and they'll be pressing us high every game unless we play Eddie or buy someone like him.

Any gk will struggle with out high line and defense to be honest. I rather we sigh a problem rb. And someone someone in the midfield that actually has legs

It was this that we couldn't cope with. Spurs played the perfect pressing game. allowed us no room to travel before harrassing us and our passing was neither sharp nor positive. I just wonder how many teams will now come to the Etihad and emulate the game plan Spurs brought today.
Not many teams have the capabilities that Spurs do so I wouldn’t be too worried

What are you basing that statement on? Genuinely curious.
Watching football?

You think more than a handful of clubs have the midfield and forwards with the pressing ability and power spurs do? I don’t

Never mind having a top manager like Thomas Frank to initiate it.

Doesn't matter whether their pressing is on par with Spurs. We only need a team to slight press us and we fall apart

Thanks for answering. Judging them on last season's league position would suggest they should not have troubled us but they do have some decent players. The issue we will have is that others teams will press us after seeing that and we need to improve swiftly. Desperately need Rodri back at his best.

The defence will still be shite with limited protection from midfield and you’ll be left with a goalkeeper who isn’t very good at making saves having to make a lot of them. Edersons goalkeeping ability was exposed last season and it will be no different this season if he stayed. I’ve no interest in stats we can all use our eyes and know he doesn’t save shots he should. With his feet Ederson is on a level of his own but Trafford is supposed to be good with his feet as goalkeepers go, he didn’t misplace that pass today it was just a horrendous decision. After that he lost composure. Everyone was raving about him last weekend and crying about how they think it’s cruel on him if we bring in another no. 1.

Pep has said post match we will be / are changing how we play. I’m guessing this is regarding build up.

last year was an anomaly as much I would love to rip them for it. Frank has been a resurgence for them, those players have always had the ability and physical attributes.

Let’s hope once Gvardiol and Rodri is back hopefully it helps
