Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Was looking forward to the game today but despite some decent-ish possession at times we created next to nothing. We were always lacking that final ball, sadly. A bit guilty of not doing the simple things in and around the box.

Cherki and reindeer were way off the pace and need to adapt to a new league. Hopefully Air-Nouri is back soon. Marmoush looked leggy and at times looked like he’d never tried to control or pass a ball before. Bernardo was way off it too when he came on and Doku was anonymous too. Let’s hope it’s the transition into a new team/style of play and that it’ll come. Out fought all over the pitch by a bang average Tottenham side and two of the sloppiest goals we’ll ever concede. Especially the second. That is a very steep learning curve for a young goalkeeper. There was absolutely no need to play the pass he tried to play.

Overall a sloppy and lacklustre performance by a team that knows better. I won’t fall out of my pram over it this early on but if we have any desires of challenging for the title we need a marked improvement.

It’s well established what happened that day. Hart insisted he played over the cup keeper or he’d leave. Why do you think we played so badly that day? Team was split.

I think it was a receipt Pep kept and that’s why he wouldn’t entertain having Joe. The passing thing is a convenient excuse.
The manager was sacked before the FA Cup Final in 2013 and eveyone knew about it. The board were shameless.

Pantillimon made a horrifc error in the Semi and Mancini wanted his best team for his last game.

It tends to be overseas fans who make up stories.

To me it really is pretty simple. The players we have signed in recent windows are not as good as their predecessors.
Of course they aren’t but to be honest, I don’t think there’s the real quality out there.

He had two grest seasons but, since has been average at best.
If only he played as well as he talks off thd pitch, we'd be fine.
He's also a weak leader.
His demise seems to have coincided with him getting together with that Insta bird.

Spurs looked like they'd had a proper pre-season and were faster and sharper from virtually the first minute. Yes, we could have scored, but we didn't.

We obviously had some plan to beat their press, but even at 0-0 Stone was playing little 1mph passes to flat footed team mates who clearly didn't want the ball.

Even during our treble season I used to worry about the space behind Ake on the left, but in those days we used to monopolise possession and the problems never really materialised.

Obviously a fully fit Rodri will make a huge difference, but we need it now. Otherwise we're going to look flaky and disjointed against any team with pace and that includes our next three opponents, Brighton, United and Arsenal.

Bullshit, Mancini wasn’t playing Hart and all knew it.

As for your last line, an interesting one.

I feel sorry for Trafford being put in that position. He's a new goalie learning his stuff at city no way should that happen. Trafford should be taking goal kick while city push up the field. If you ain't got the players for the system you want to play then you can't play that system. I hope Diaz gets well and truly bollocked for doing that. Its a fucking goal kick, just get the ball launched up the pitch.
Totally agree... the captain squares the ball to a rookie keeper under pressure on his 2nd game ???

We are simply not a great team anymore. Our era of dominance is over. It happens to them all eventually. Liverpool and United dominated eras but it doesn't last forever. Now it's our turn for it to come to an end.

No killer instinct anymore either. 3 years ago I'd fully expect us to get something from a losing position, just because of the killer mentality we had. We no longer have it. Players are laughing and smiling on the bench or having craic with opposing subs while we're losing.

The city era is over. Frustrating times ahead.

oh well. may aswell sell the club.

PLayed shote again against the plucky shites from london

The only place we really play well is about 10 years either side of the half way line.

In other words, we can't attack and we can't defend.

Some of the players aren't consistent enough but still imo it's on Pep to have a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts.

My faith in Pep was lost last season. All I can do is hope that we get there but it just seems silly to think we will when there's no evidence of a systematic new approach.

Is pretty much the correct answer.

When you look at teams from 3/4 years ago and compare it to this one, it’s frightening.
A midfield of David Silva, Fernandinho and KdB, with Rodri and Gundogan rotating, to what we have now.

It’s hardly a mystery as to why we’ve regressed. And we’ve spent a lot of money in the process as well.
