Donarumma doesn't solve our issues. And he potentially creates or at least makes the existing ones worse
he solves our problem in the sense he is an established experienced goalkeeper and at 26 years old is still young for a keeper, and should have his best years ahead of him still to improve further . Yes Pep will have to find a system that works to include Donna, but thats why he is paid the big money to solve such things . I believe Pep never in his wildest dreams thought he would still be City manager at this point and would have to radically think about changing his system ,that would be someone else's challenge.

It's your story, Simon. Tell it however you wish to tell it. Fwiw, you needn't take as much time and thought replying to short messages like mine.

Similar to you, the majority of people here aren't interested in being "persuaded."
I'm interested in opposing views as I'd really like someone to persuade me otherwise that this signing is essential to improving our performances regularly on tge pitch...which o don't see despite seeing Donarummas huge positive attributes

People coming on here to ONLY air their views and not listen to others are missing the whole point which is sad but also unsurprising nowadays

Yup like this. That's how I see the positive of or. Will Pep make a huge change to how we play. We are certainly seeing more longer kicks from the keeper even now...just our outfield is then not set up to play to this. The funny thing in all of this is that Edersons kicking long is also far superior to anyone's whether off the floor or out of hands

I’m already counting that Eddie is gone so the question for me “will Donnarumma make us a better team?” If the answer is yes then it’s full steam ahead

If we continue to play a high line having one of the best GKs in the world at saving shots isn’t a bad idea. We also need much more pace in the back line as well
Apart from Kush. I reckon we have got the slowest defence in the league.

Ake
Akanji
Stones
Dias

Won't be anywhere near the sprinting charts this season.

And that’s fine, but you’re posting the same argument ad nauseum.
as are others on the other side of the argument. Like i said at least i can see both sides and know the positives of the potential transfer
I also back up my opinion and never personally atack anyone for posting something that differs from my opinion whether I like it or agree with it or not.

Some others cannot say the same

Another question is given the options available are Ortega or Trafford if Eddie leaves, would he make us a worse team? I'd say no and his saves and presence would make us better.

I don't see Galatasaray stumping up for Ederson. Same applies for Savinho.

We will end up having two players that don't want to be here.

I would agree, at least on Spurs, but neither club has really left themselves with much other option into the last week of the window.

At least we are comfortable with both players

The mistake isn't due to a press. The mistake is just completely ignoring whats going on around you. He doesn't succumb to pressure, he doesn't even see it coming.

Like I said, taking one touch too many did him in. Someone shouting "man on" wouldn't hurt either. Definitely just as bad as Trafford, just a different mistake.

And to refer back to my last post, this was in Nov 2023. Has he done this since? Because the goal wasn't the only issue Trafford had yesterday.
I see your point but I still think both mistakes have something similar. Donnarumma wasn't aware of his surroundings enough before getting the ball, and Trafford wasn't aware that Nico was being heavily marked(or maybe he was aware but just did it anyway).

Has he made the same exact mistake since then? I don't know because I don't follow PSG a lot.

I do agree that 2nd goal wasn't the only issue for Trafford. His decision making when it came to counter-attack was very questionable and worrying. But since we will certainly be playing a system with a high line when we attack, getting Donnarumma won't be better anyway, not just because his ball distribution isn't great, but also because he isn't a sweeper type of GK. If we decide to play low block from now on, and he can just stay in the penalty box all day long, then it will be completely fine.

Sooner or later we are going to need a new GK. There will never be a keeper like Ederson.
He is unique a one off.
But even recently his job has become harder as the rest of our team isn't as good.

If we miss chances to score as we did yesterday it might make sense to have Donnarumma to come to the rescue when various unmarked forwards are bearing down on our goal.

We are no longer in control of games so we need a few big players to bail us out with their brilliance.
Haaland, Donnarumma, Cherki, Foden, Reinjders have that X factor

If Eddie stays another year then leaves on a free will a keeper as good as Donna be on the market. City, in my opinion have to buy now, or risk being without a top class keeper and backup, if you don't have that we will be lucky to win any top trophies or dominate games. The writing has been on the wall since last November, so my worry is that there is a divide in the backroom at City.

And Rodri

If Eddie has already gone as some posters are saying, why was he on the bench on Saturday?

MCFC OS.

On the bench, there are welcome returns for Rodri, Phil Foden and Ederson.

He hasn't physically gone just mentally checked out of being
City's first choice keeper, he was picked for the bench as he still has 12 months on his contract ,And contractually he has to fulfill his side of the contract to be available . Mentally though do we want to play a keeper who isn't in to it anymore?
