7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

All those years I spent laughing at Rashford, and we go out and sign the Egyptian Rashford.

~ Can't play the lone striker role.
~ Can't play on the right (not tried yet)
~ Can't play effectively as a left winger.
~ Can't dribble (although Rashford can, with no end product)
~ No variety in his shooting at all, no side foot shot, no delicate shot, no curler, no lob, no chip, no aerial ability.
~ Puts his head down and smashes every shot with the right foot. (usually across to the GK right side)
~ Questionable set piece ability.

If we were to replace Savinho, I think Marmoush would be the biggest loser. Not really sure what his best position is.

I think the hype around him will die down very quickly this season

I'm pretty sure he has been tried on the right, and I think he wasn't bad.

I don’t think he’s a winger, but then he’s never going to start over Haaland.

Almost feels like we’re trying to force players into the starting line up, and there’s so much change it’s unsettling the team

We seem to be buying players lately without much of a plan. I expected Marmoush to be the Alvarez replacement but he doesn’t seem to like or very capable of leading the line upfront on his own. Would be better playing off Haaland but that disrupts the balance of the side so he’s usually out on the left. We’ve brought a keeper in who looks average at best with his feet and are still trying to play as if Ederson is in net. We had no legs in midfield and brought in Nico who’d be a close race against 34 year old Gundo. We’ve also brought in plenty of players for countless millions who aren’t getting in the team yet whilst still having no proper right back at the club. Absolutely bizarre recruitment and it’s reflected in performances.

Another reason to hate Txiki

Went for Marmoush when Kvara was available

Marmoush scores more goals than Kvara doesn't he? I remember Ashley Young having a world beating season at the rags but that didn't last long.

Marmoush is doing fine once he beds into his role he'll do even better.

Everything he does is frantic. As a team we could use a bit more directness, but it's like he's like the opposite of a Pep player. He does some great things, but we lose possession a fair bit through him too. Would like to see him slow down on occasion and pick his moments a little more.

We had worse games against spurs in the treble winning season.

It’s August, we’ve got players on their way back from injury (Haaland/Foden), a new keeper which will take the back 4 ten games to settle with, and new players still adapting.

Despite all that we had the vast majority of chances in the first half and if we’d put them away we’d have been a few goals up and not chasing the game leading to mistakes.

Arsenal looked shit last weekend against a poor United. They’ll still be title challengers and so will we.
I'm all for positivity but we'll be nowhere near challenging on the basis of Saturdays spineless performance.

Hoping I'll be eating my words in 8 months but there's big work needed to be done if so. We've been looking to Pep to fix it since that 4-0 to spurs and nothing seems to have changed, even after £300m+ on new signings.

He’s slowly ending up like Jack, pushed out wide by Pep, and not being involved in the game through the centre.

I think he needs a long run of games to get momentum but will not get it here. lot of stop/starts in terms of that for him imo.

He really bottled everything 1st half vs spurs - but the whole team did, mistakes all over the pitch, no confidence.

Those who've seen him shine at Frankfurt know that he was a top counter attacker - with spaces galore, which he rarely gets here.
Well he HAD those chances vs spurs and didn't take any. Poor.

But he scored some set piece stunners at Frankfurt and should take our free kicks in goal distance. Who would be better anyway? :-/

Maybe we should rest Erling now and then and play Omar up front vs some opponents.

Wonder how much missing the pen at Wembley has affected his confidence. That was a key moment and he blew it big time.
