I think we need more defensive cover. Against spurs we basically had three defensive minded players in the centre backs and Nico.

What they didn't cover though was that Spurs may have just ended up sitting deep when Ederson had it and then countering us anyway. There's no guarantee we'd have won with Ed and no guarantee he'd not have made a similar mistake to that Trafford made. He probably wouldn't, but I wouldn't put the error down to Trafford not being capable, just that they're all learning together at the moment still.

Separate point and irrelevant this in some respect, but that Spurs game was the kind of game was missing Kovacic. He has the ability to receive the ball deep in midfield and break the press by beating the man, which also helps when they go man-to-man like that.
Ederson would probably have disabled Spurs plan and yes, likely they would have had tried another tactic.

I wonder whether Pep is going to play Ederson at Brighton. I hope so.

----------------Ederson
Khusanov--Stones--Dias--Gvardiol/RAN
---------Rodri----------Nico
Bobb---------Reijnders------Foden
--------------Haaland

Could be Nunes instead of Khusanov.

Could drop Nico or Rodri for Cherki and move Reijnders back. Just need to find the balance between control/staying tight and scoring enough to win the game.

Please dont put Rico as right back. Mitoma will tear him a new arsehole and turn him inside out. Way too fast and tricky for Rico.

FWIW Rico has played RB against Mitoma twice already, and Mitoma didn't score or assist, I can't remember if he was actually involved in the goals in the 2-2 but I don't think so.

My only visit to Brighton’s old Goldstone Ground back in 1989 and I wondered if I had actually imagined this, but no it actually happened…

My banana popped in the heat of the open stand on the side that game.

3 days later I was driving back from Shrewsbury in the snow.

Global warming and we didn't even know.

Mitoma is fully fit now. He hadn't been for a while due to injuries. Now he's back to his best
