City Women’s Team | 2025/26

So still no sign of Fujino and Hempo only on as a sub.

That starting 11 shouldn't be too dissimilar to the one that starts Friday one would think. (I count at least 7 'guaranteed' starters, late injuries notwithstanding.)

Hope theres nothing too concerning going on with Fujino. Remember from her interviews last season that she really struggled to adapt when she arrived and put way too much pressure on herself. Obvs shes had great support from our more senior Japanese players though and she seems to be enjoying herself in training.

I guess we might hear something before Friday, though we seem to get far less info about injuries where the women are concerned. Usually the first we hear is that they're out with an ACL :-)

Individual women players threads with one for each and every player were posted recently, with many of them will have a maximum of one or two posts including the original post in the entire season. The City Women Threads in the past two years (when we didn’t have a separate thread for each and every player) had 1002 posts (23/24) and 1098 posts (24/25) at the end of the season, including most of the news about the players. These are relatively few posts for the entire season. So, several of the newly posted individual player threads will be used rarely or not at all. I would rather having only 7 or 8 threads for the main players (they are very well known) and post the odd news of the others in this main thread: City Women Team 2025/26. That should keep players news in track and makes it easier to follow than having a separate thread for each player. Like it or not, women football including the players, and I am a big fan, doesn’t draw the interest of the average football fan. Even many women football fans don’t follow women football. In my opinion, having a separate thread for each player is a distraction, instead of the focused main thread (City Women Team 2025/26) that may attract more ppl to follow City Women football through this forum. Again, that is just my opinion.

I'm pretty much in agreement with this. Don't think the Women's section is popular enough to support individual threads for most players. We'll just end up feeling sorry for those who don't end up with any additional posts.

I was quite optimistic when the team sheet came out prior to the men's Brighton game; I'm similarly optimistic about the women's trip to wherever Chelsea Women play. Kingston?

King's Meadow - but I think Friday is at the Bridge (as it's a PL week off).

Having looked at all our teams that played Chelsea last year, I'm optimistic that, if nothing else, the bench on Friday should be stronger.

Yeah, I think we have a stronger and more resilient team than last season.

I think with a fit starting 11 we have a decent chance and apparently Ramirez is injured too.

Only concern is at the back. Not clear how we're going to set up and whilst I think Jade Rose is going to be a class act for us, it'd one hell of an ask to hit the ground running away at Chelsea in a new look back 4.

I think it will depend on which ref is appointed. I suspect that we will get the usual!

Emily Heaslip is the referee for the opener against Chelsea. Well isn’t that convenient..
She should be banned from refereeing games between us or any one involving Chelsea. I do hope we are going to put in a strongly worded letter of protest.

Let’s hope we have many fewer injuries this season.

That really ruined last year for us, I believe.
Still think we're just 1 injury away from another busted season. Here's hoping our POTY stays fit as we don't really have a direct replacement for her. Really should've learnt from the Rodri situation.
