Tbf I wasn't mad about the Phillips signing and he looked great for England, but when you look at Rodri play and then Phillips in the same spot for City, it's absolute night and day. Things can Rodri can see in seconds take Phillips 1-3 business days.

Kalvin Phillips can only play facing forward. That's something we should have known before signing him. Especially when, up to that point, our standard for midfielders was ridiculous.

The man is a genius but he looks tired, his team looks bored and uninterested and the board seem to think that fucking about with the fans is an Olympic sport.

:)

We won our first game 4-0. We're guaranteed 1 weird Spurs game a year and we are still integrating a lot of new signings in a team where players often need a year to figure things out. Plus our newest star playmaker just went down for 2 months.

It's not perfect, but we arent doomed to failure.

Definitely. Considering that we switched to 2 CDMs in the season, I'd have been curious to see what he looked like next to Rodri but between early form and the injury, the damage was done.

Can understand concerns about his ability to play out from the back, but it didn't really hamper PSG last season. Am sad to see Ederson go, but once he decided he wanted out we had to get a world class replacement and I think Donnarumma fits that category and was available. He seems like a leader and will hopefully give some confidence to a squad who currently look bereft of it. Looking forward to seeing how he settles in.
Yes. We need LEADERS!

So you saying Ederson has been a world class goalkeeper? Because he’s always struggled on crosses too and never been a good shot stopper.

That PSG c*nt Laurens was desperate for him to renew his contract last season as were PSG and as was Enrique. They’re forcing him out because he didn’t sign the new deal they offered him by their deadline so they bought a new No.1. The rest is agenda they’re putting into the media. Yes, we all know he isn’t amazing with his feet but that PSG team played arguably the best football in the champions league since peps Barca and they won a treble with him so it can work. They also do not win that CL without his shot stopping ability to bail them out in several of the knock out rounds.
I dont know how you have come to that conclusion, i said nothing of the sort. I also very strongly disagree with the suggestion Ederson has always struggled with crosses. He's very dominant in the air.

Psg didnt just sign a new keeper after he rejected a contract extension, they've been tracking him for ages. PSG coping with donnarumma's lack of ability on the ball is only relevant if we can replicate that same level. Nobody who has watched us for the last 18 months would ever think we can produce the displays psg did with this squad. if that's the level you need to produce to compensate for a keeper who can't get involved then we are fucked.

I find this potential signing really depressing. One, because we have a very good goalkeeper in Trafford as I think he showed yesterday and he will loose the opportunity to develop further. Yes, we need a replacement for Ederson but there are plenty of good goalkeepers out there who are out there who would be happy to operate as a NO2 at City. Yes D is considered world class but he offers nothing more than we already have. Secondly, it does not affect in any way the basis weaknesses in the structure of or current side. We are slow and ponderous at the back but we appear unwilling to address this area. Finally, if we are so concerned about signing world class players when they become available why did we not go in for Isak. I'm sure Pep could have accomodated in some way and would offer far more than Marmoush. Yes he was set on Liverpool but only after he was tapped up
Its simple you don't spend 130 million on Isak to have him as backup for Haaland. We are spending 30 million Euros for a world class keeper (I would say best in the world but that seems to ruffle a few feathers) who will start for City.

Can you imagine playing Centre half and seeing this beast stood in net behind you, it will give you so much confidence and have a calming effect.
He's a giant and hopefully he'll help keep the back door shut.

Can't wait to see him in action for us.

Pep has changed the teams style 3 times in the last 9 seasons.

He will have more scouting intel on Donnarumma than anyone here. I imagine he knows how to accommodate the drop in passing ability.

You arent replicating Ederson with anyone, Ederson was used as an initial playmaker at times. They just don't need to do that anymore. It's not the drastic change that people think it is.

Could we get Pep to change the team style again to start winning again?

Doesn’t seem like he has been accommodating for some of our players lack of abilities.

Pep has got the look of a man who doesn't seem that bothered, it's more than that. We'll get it right I have no doubt but it may not be with Pep.

The cult of Pep ( I admit the man has been fantastic for us) may not like that but there shouldn't be any sentiment in football, the man is our greatest ever manager but between him and Foden and the new Dias deal I don't have a lot of faith.

We are seeing what we hated most about the rags, we will still turn a profit even if we win nothing hence the club wont be in a rush to improve matters on the pitch or behind the scenes.

So did Bernardo but we had manged to keep him motivated enough since. We now have Trafford as another challenger to him
Bernardo shouldn't even be starting let alone captain as far as im concerned. So forcing Ederson to stay in goal with his jaw dragging along the ground and Bernardo in the engine room is what you want? So Top 6 is our aim this season yeah??

Yeah he got a nice send off because of his heroics in the champions league.

Across social media they're largely unbothered and not angry at him leaving. And social media is usually a cesspit of anger at the best of times.
Largely unbothered because it was all but certain he was leaving 6 weeks ago.

All people have found out is the destination which isn't even a shock in itself.

are you trying to say Anthony Taylor has been confirmed as ref for this game
You just know it will be.
Like night follows day, Webb will be reassuring the rags top brass that they've got a numerical advantage for the derby
