The problem with this is we are not PSG, we arent capable of replicating their performance. Their answer to donnarummas inability to play out was to have the best front press on the planet and to pack the team and particularly the defence with pace. We'd need an entire new squad to be able to do that.

So we sign him….to replace the best on the ball keeper in the world? Having spent 30m on Trafford and with Ortega staying on. GD is clearly a top keeper in the “old style” and objectively isn’t a bad signing but remember when we had a coherent plan and strategy? PSG were the finished article. This is part of City's rebuild. You can argue how far down the line we are with that.

Were they? They have an extraordinarily young squad, younger than ours was and is. I dont think they're close to being the finished article, their next evolution is one where they are dumping their keeper to bring in somebody who aligns with the way they want to play.

The argument has been "if psg can manage to win everything with donnarumma in net, So can we" which ignores the fact we don't and can't stand up to the other 10 players they put on the pitch
