Right back options

If you have the best player's at every position, this is always better. But if there was q position where you are weakest, its best its at fullback.

And almost every team is weak somewhere. Chelsea at Goalie, Arsenal at Goalie and striker until this season, Liverpool was weak at full back, and probably still are...

If uou can have every position be great, its best. But in the end it is the Superstars and yhe heart of the great teams that make the difference

I get it that many here think Nunes and Lewis are below standard, but they arent. They are just not stars. And they dont need to be
Nunes and lewis are fucking miles below standard. Come on

by the way Takehiro Tomiyasu is without a club

only issue, he had a Knee surgery

If you believe that website he could play again in October. Suspect he will have other issues coming back from the knee injury but I don't see much risk on a free. Presumably low-ish wages.

Not a long term solution but an improvement on what we have.

I like Nunes and Lewis. I hope I am proven right as the season develops.

I always felt that a physical presence in midfield was the biggest miss. Now we have Rodri back, and Gonzalez shows promising signs, I am sure it is just a matter of time before we gel. I suspect that the league may well be done by that time, but so be it; that is elite sport.

This would be my main pick.

----------------Trafford--------------------
Lewis---Khusanov---Gvardiol---Ait-Nouri
--------------Rodri--Gonzalez----------------
Cherki ----------- Foden---------Savinho
--------------------Haaland--------------------

I think it's obvious that Donna will probably take Trafford's place in this.
I would put that up against anyone's first eleven.

I think Reijnders competes with Phil. Oscar Vs Cherki; Sav Vs Doku etc.

I don't like Nunes or Lewis but I do like your positivity and the rest of your post.

I think Nunes is grand because he is fast. I think Lewis is an awful RB (decent midfielder).

I'd always start Nunes. Plus he'd be less likely to have errors if he was played regularly.

I'd keep Lewis on the bench and have him replace tired players up front. I'd never play him in defense again. He's just not built for it.

We have directly conceded goals in the last two games because Rico (not covering back) and Nunes (handball penalty) are below par.

You refuse to see what is in front of your eyes.

So Stones' slip against Spurs & Stones giving the ball away in the 88th minute against Brighton don't get a mention then?

Wouldn’t be my first choice if we had other options, but Nunes over Lewis every day of the week.

It's about combinations, IMO.
Nunes + Stones
Lewis + Khus
Fair. I think, if he’s going to persist with wingers, I’d rather have
Stones Khusanov Dias Gvardiol.

If he’s tempted with no wingers but wing backs I’d go
Nunes Stones Khusanov Gvardiol Ait-Nouri with Dias stepping in when the inevitable injury happens.

The slip only came as he tried to play offside which in hindsight he shouldn't have done so but Rico should have been on the cover and wasn't quick enough to see the danger behind him. Against Brighton it was more of an interception rather than a bad pass but if you look it left us 2 v 4 at the back. Basic schoolboy stuff. At that point in the game it should have been lock up shop, take the point and be grateful. I think if Khusanov was still on the pitch we don't concede that goal. Dias should have gone through the player and taken the card rather than allow the lay off and then then jogged back. No idea where Lewis was, as I say we were left 2 v 4. Both Lewis and Nunes are being forced to play in a position that neither are good at but at least the recovery pace of Nunes is an asset. Criminal that we have not bought a right back in the past two or possibly three windows. I know Aina signed a new three year deal in July but if Livramento isn't an option then I would be all over him now and get him signed in January, we can't go another season with no recognised right back.

Already said that a back 3 / 5 with exactly those players is our best option currently. Rodri, Reinders and Foden with Haaland plus someone else up top.

Going to keep an interested eye on Couto’s development this season. Seems to have settled down and has the manager’s confidence now, has worked on the defensive side of his game, and will be hoping to go to the World Cup.

What position was Rico playing both times?
