Thank You Ilkay - Part 2

Great player for us. Good luck in Turkey, I'm sure he'll have a blast

I’m sad to see Ilkay leave again. He will always be one of my favourites players to wear the City Blue.

A superb passer of a football, and a brilliant dead-ball specialist, who scored a few direct free-kicks, most notably away to Brighton on the last day of the season in 2019 to put the cherry on the icing on the cake.

However, his two biggest moments were also big moments in the club’s history; the brace against Villa to seal our second of the four consecutive Premier League titles, and the 12-second goal at Wembley to put the rags on the back foot right from the start of the 2023 Cup final.

Ilkay is the very epitome of a Pep Guardiola-type player, and it was always a pleasure to watch him at Etihad.

Thank you, Gündog, for your enormous contribution to the City cause, and I hope we see you back at the club in some capacity in the near future.

2nd spell was not a good one but nothing will ever tarnish the 1st spell and what you have done for this club. Thanks for everything Ilkay and good luck!

I'm guessing he will be registered in time for the CL squads.
We'll see him again when we play Galatasaray so.

Top pro. Wish him well. Never let us down, esp in big games.

All the very best, Ilkay, in the balance of your new adventures, both personal and professional.

Once a Blue, Always a Blue!

I was buzzing when he came back to us. But let's be honest; he was a pale imitation of the player who captained us to the treble just two short years ago. I guess time waits for no man. I wish him nothing but good things in this next stage of his career. And we'll always have this....

One of my favourite city memories, Wembley was fucking mental when that goal went in from the kick off.

Thank you again Gundo

The bell has finally rung for Mr Whippy at God's own club.
Forget your second spell, that wasn't on you lad.
Club legend without a doubt, and you will be welcomed back every time you return.
