PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

They have done what we should have done after the treble and been ruthless. Their plan is long term and they are set to go for a good few years now minus that centre back position. They have had several outgoings and as mentioned by someone else they spent zip all last year. They can have this splurge because it is over 3 years and even more so when they won't be spending big moving forwards. I am jealous of their approach, the thing we all hate is the hypocrisy and double standards around it.
Exactly!

I don't have an issue with Liverpool's spending and they've done well to get so much money for Nunez and Diaz etc

It's the way they've portrayed themselves as plucky underdogs, and the media never questioning Klopp's hypocrisy that really grates.

We won our 4 on the row that no other team has done straight after our treble.

Just listening to Martin O’Neill on Sly.

Usually think he’s a bit of a tit but he speaks well on PSR. Basically understands what a load of bollocks it is and how it ensures the usual suspects stay at the top and stops everyone else competing.
He can fuck off as well. Notice how not one of these idiots ever claimed it was an issue when it appeared only City were the only ones fighting this stuff and were also seemingly the only apparent target?
How many times were they told what the agenda was and how many times did they vote with the red shirts?

Now, as it starts to affect teams these clowns used to play for/manage or just support, they’re suddenly switched on to the cartel protecting their hegemony and, all of a sudden, it’s not fair.

Sympathy? As my now departed dad was fond of saying, it comes somewhere between shit and syphilis in the dictionary…

Gullible melts, the fucking lot of them.

Football is an unedifying sight at the mo.
PSR is a farce restricting competition and City are suing again.
The 130 charges are stuck simply because the PL complicated the issue to appease the redshirts.
City are in turmoil vis a vis CFG.
WHAM have a technical director who is banned from the training ground by the manager.
The rags are still in the clutches of the Glazres.
Wednesday, Morecombe and others are suffering nutty owners.
I could go on but the picture is not pretty.
Football eh? Bloody hell.
Add in a free for all cheating mantra on the pitch - diving/feigning injury/falling over at corners after a gust of wind/daft handball penalty decisions/shit VAR decisions - and it gets even worse. Some might say the PL should get these things in order rather than chasing clubs over spending a few million over the limits

Harsh....for me, the more people now on board with the anti-cartel stance the better!

With Van Dyke & Salah's legs already gone and Konate possibly running his contract down and off to RM, it's a huge gamble that all of the signings pay off. Their future short term spending won't be so expansive for sure.
We could be here in a years time and their centre half options are some 19 year old Italian and Marc Guehi on a free transfer, that’s a fall from VVD and Konate and those that partnered VVD before.

Isak and Ekitike are realistically the Salah replacement in advance, they just need to replace his goals.

Kerkez is a fine Robertson replacement. Yet to see if Wirtz is worth the outlay. Trent was better than Frimpong.

Personally I don’t think they’ve gotten any better and like you say are likely to get worse when the inevitable happens with VVD and Salah.

Love the sympathy quote same from my old man :-)

At the time of winning the treble, though, no-one, and I mean no-one, said,”Hey, I know what we need to do. We need to totally and ruthlessly dismantle this fantastic team that has just won the treble.”

Add to that the new 'go to' in order to guarantee a stoppage - hold your head. This is going to disrupt every game.

Given the Red Cartel are the prosecution in our case of course they know the outcome already
To me they can spend like fuck now knowing they lost the battle but with insider knowledge they are determined to win the war thereby they know exclusively that they can spend spend spend as their rules have been binned and no doubt any breaches now won’t/can’t be retrospectively applied to something deemed illegal or at best non applicable
The only fly in my theory is as the defence in the case we too know the outcome and do seem to be spending but why haven’t we gone for A class established players or at least been an interested party

I agree that I think the cartel clubs know the likely outcome and have splurged accordingly.

By the next transfer window, Newcastle could have the system upended in their favour.

I think we’re taking a pragmatic view with our net spend with potentially a war chest being accumulated for our next manager e.g. Vinnie bringing Olise with him.

The factors Liverpool are saying have made them be able to spend - increased matchday revenue and new kit deals. We have them coming on stream from January when the North stand is complete and the renewal with Puma which as bumped up the money. There will also be operating profits from a hotel going into the pot and with the associated parties rules being null and void we could go back to Etihad and have that deal improved.

Yes Adidas have a big part in this. Its sports brands wars as well as yank/ Arab wars too. We as fans are right in the middle of it watching an arms race underway . . .

How many of our fans are actually satisfied with the result of our ruthlessness over the last two windows? I get the impression that the only thing that would satisfy some of our fans is buying some A-list players at more than £100 million each. It may be as well to remember that we bought Ilkay for £20-odd million in preference to Pogba for really big bucks and I think our club's judgement was vindicated.

I think it took Pep 2 years to build the Centurions, but what a superb team that was, and then he tweaked it a little and we got the Fourmidables. In 2023 we won the CL with a team including those mega costly defenders Ake and Akanji, bothe central defenders but one of whom played at full back!

If any manager in world football has earned the right to try and build another great team it is our Pep and he should be trusted to get on with it in his own way. And we should stop obsessing about Liverpool and wait and see if their spend spend spend approach really gets the better of us in the long term.
