My advice for guinea pigs would be as follows.
1. Stop squeaking and munching lettuce at all times of day and night in the house. You'll annoy the family who will re-house you in a cheap hutch at the end of the garden.
2. If you ignore point 1. above, refuse to be relocated to the hutch. It will be broken in to by that stray, starving boxer dog that's been hanging around for a couple of weeks - and your heads will be found in the middle of the garden in the morning by the distraut 6 year old child of the house.
