Might Jack Grealish play for City again?

He's doing really well at Everton and good luck to him. This might sound awful, but he needs to be a big fish in a small pond and he's found his level. He will be great for Everton as he won't be facing 10 players in the box every week. If he keeps it up he will almost certainly win his England place back as well.

It's great for us too. His value is going up and I will be sure that Everton will want to keep him and if not Everton then Villa will, or Forest, or West Ham etc etc.

Personally I think he will be valued in a way that enables us to do a swap deal for Branthwaite. Maybe Stones + Grealish for him? Everton get 2 'big names' for the stadium and we get a good young, English defender.

Ah, you must have thought I was comparing and not talking about how City fans feel about him on a professional level.

Bless. If I had said "Danny Mills", would you have gotten the point (The one you completely missed?)
You’re still wrong like

Highly unlikely but some distance from impossible.

Shame how it ended, but no question he’s a City legend. Ridiculous to suggest otherwise. He’s won the same number of trophies with the club as Colin Bell, Bert Trautmann and Frank Swift combined.

How does that not make him a City legend?

I’m very much Team Jack but he’s not a City legend imo. He played an integral part in at least two of the three titles he won and contributed significantly to a number of cup wins but in the final reckoning he probably didn’t stay long enough to have legendary status conferred upon him

Doesn't matter how well he does there. Even if he keeps the form up, it'll just be more incentive for him to be bought. Pep clearly made up his mind to sanction him leaving and that's essentially that.

If Pep walked away early after this season, maybe. Can't see that happening though, so it's safe to say Jack has played his last game for City IMO.

Grealish joined Everton on loan this Summer and was voted the best Premier League player in August. He has 4 assists to his name. Everton drew 0-0 vs Villa yesterday but the MOTD highlights showed that he was very effective and created some big chances for Everton.

He seems to me to be playing in exactly the same role at Everton as he played at City but he is playing much better. Why is this? I can think of some reasons:

1) He knows this is a final chance and the move is a mental reset for him. He's trying harder.

2) He is enjoying positive comment from media and fans. Football journalists will speak of Grealish at Everton a lot more positively than they did when he was at City.

3) He is playing regularly for the first time in a while

4) The tactics of the opposing sides he's faced for Everton might be more progressive than what we would typically experience playing for City. I think this is true but unlikely to explain his pick-up in form.

5) It might be a blip.

6) Moyes has managed him better than Pep. Seems unlikely.

7) Everton games are not the Cup Finals that City face every week.

I don't think City can recall Grealish in Jan. but it will depend on the loan agreement.

Would you want Jack back? I would based on his current form. His record: goals and assists will be important but I think Jack is also one of those players who make teams and his team mates play better. His passes are usually perfectly weighted. I think a lot of City fans wrote Jack off and already he's proved this viewpoint wrong. I wondered if he still had it in him to be a top player. We need to see more, but it looks good so far. I can see him back in a City shirt again.
I don't think he has the self drive to reach the level that he would need to be. He had one standout season for us, and even then he wasn't even touching the level of some of the players on the pitch. I think over discipline in a Pep team eventually got to him. I may get shot down for this but I feel that his likeability has resulted in tinted specs with Jack.

You think a City Treble winner isn’t a legend?

Is Akanji a legend or Ake or Gvardiol ?

Yes it was a historic treble and yes our first CL but i think as a club we've won enough and been dominant enough that we don't automatically call players who've featured in a remarkable season legends in the manner that say Coventry's cup winning team of 87 will all be Coventry legends

I wouldn't rule it out but I think it is rather unlikely.

Wish him well and I hope he finds success at Everton or wherever he moves next.

I’d say Coventry’s 1987 FA Cup win and City’s Treble are analogous.

A key difference is perhaps that there are only a finite number of players who can reasonably be considered to be club legends at any club and so, with all due respect to Coventry's history, they had a lot more space in their hall of legends in 87 than we did in 23.

Thus all their 87 heroes became legends whereas we were privileged enough to be able to be more discerning when deciding which of our 23 team to elevate.

No, he hasn't got the discipline to work at it and lean from Pep's coaching. He will flourish in any team where he can roam and be a Gazza/Le Tissier type flair player. A bit similar to Cole Palmer at Chelsea IMO. They would rather play eye catching free roaming football than stick to their position in the team!

Them type of players wont work in a Pep style system where everyone has a job to do!

It looks like Doku has finally understood his role now!

Not for me. Glad the lad is doing well at Everton but totally different when teams come and play Everton to when they play us.
50 Million please Everton.

Knowing Everton they'll low ball us and offer £30m cos he's over 30 and on the last year of his contract, even though he'll have been their player of the season and likely make it back into the England squad. £50m or fuck off!

His contract runs till June 2027 so he still has 2 more seasons left. If he does well at Everton they'll just give him another season loan. That's if another club don't come I with a decent offer to buy him. I very much we'll get anywhere near 50m. We'll be lucky if any club offers 20m.

after this seasons finishes and his loan with Everton is up there'll only be 1 year left, we will be selling him in summer 2026
