City attacking face value sites - cultural war on supporters ?

The members pass is on the members phone, you can't login and keep downloading it to different phones, this isn't touts that stand outside the ground this is massive companies with millions. There's other examples where blues have been specifically told the end buyer was sent a link to download the ticket.
You can download it onto 2 phones, and if you read Dan Roan's piece he was told to delete it once used, which supports this. The link was probably the login to the tout's account. City said they discovered 7 accounts acting in concert and banned them all.

Because you can't work out how it happened, you've made the mistake of assuming it can't happen, and jumped to a stupid conclusion without knowing all the facts.

I didnt assume I asked you numerous times and you kept coming up with impossible examples, so i suggested my own theory.

So lets delve into your latest theory, seems plausible, but we then have to assume the touting company is buying memberships up going to the prerequisite number of games to be able to qualify for a Derby ticket (5 from memory?) Then selling the ticket for 1 game only as they'd be the at the max 2 pass downloads. Doesn't seem to be any profit in that? Definitely plausible though unlike your other comments.

I'd suggest its far more likely that someone in the club with access to tickets is selling them for a profit something that has happened for many years.

Perhaps I'm missing a step but:-

1. Robsta's son puts his ST seat up on the exchange

2. A tout who has multiple accounts already setup uses a bot to buy the ticket(s) and advertises it.

3. Someone buys it at a marked up price and gets sent the login details for the touts account that bought the seat. They download the app and login.

4. Once the ticket is used, the password is changed on the account.

5. Rinse & repeat.

If the above is possible and as simple as it appears then it would explain City's seemingly draconian restriction on how many times a ST can be downloaded. They'll be collating statistics and looking to shut this route down.

The club should hire a ticket compliance officer.

Oh wait....

Not if the end buyer deletes the pass after using so the next buyer can download it and if the seller has 7 or more accounts then plenty of profit. However it's done I don't get why people think the club would sell to unauthorised sellers when they have their own authorised partners, doubt the official partner resellers would be too pleased.

Deleting the pass doesn't give you more chances to download its max 2 like a season ticket.

You are assuming in my theory its the club doing it, I'm assuming its individuals working for the club.

Most (but realistically not all) of this external reselling would be unnecessary if the club adopted a ' City fans first' policy with the absolute intention of developing our regular and floating fan base as opposed to exclusively tourists.

As a thought, all tickets should be available right up to match day on the club ticket site.

A reduced number of tickets (1000?) should be available through club only packages to include City related/owned establishments/facilities ie club corporate, the Medlock,CooP Arena Tast etc.

The 8000 additional seats in the NS creates the opportunity re Mancunianise our support whilst taking complete control of every element of the reselling/tourist package market.

The club will soon announce two huge sponsorship deals, ETIHAD & FAB, which will afford them the opportunity to be more thoughtful, considerate and engaging with 'non tourist' casual fans.

Try it City, the essential ingredients are coalescing at just the right time !!

Climbing into bed with a ticketing firm was always a bad optic and open to criticism, no matter how some, including the club, dress it up as a "service". It's a greed based option that bypasses genuine fans.
Does it bypass fans? 2 seasons ago it was really difficult to get exchange tickets, last season I had no problem, and not needed any yet this season but I've had e-mails when they have gone onto the exchange, or Flexi golds not taken up and could have bought them.

Are City saying that with having 8-9 ticket tout agencies, that they are unable to sell 53,000 tickets direct to supporters themselves?

Otherwise why would you employ/team up with these sites?

The only obvious reason is so the club can sell tickets at higher prices than what was set out at the beginning of the season

The club should put the foot down and tell these sites that if you can’t shifts tickets for the Fulham/Brentford type games you wont get any tickets for the Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal games.
Make the little runts work for their money instead of just appearing and making money for the big games

F*cking con artists. The club should be ashamed

Even if someone in the club (and all the other clubs) are doing this, the touts would still need accounts to access the tickets. So however they're doing it most likely involves a ticket account.

These people are basically professional criminals. You, I assume, are not. These people find ways of making money that never occur to the likes of you and I.

I don't think the club is making anything directly from the actual sale of tickets. I think the way it works is that these agencies pay us an upfront sum and we supply them with a set number of tickets under the contract. The agency then make the money on selling the package.

Kudos for your non aggressive reply to said poster.

Yep, that makes sense.

The sophisticated workarounds involving cloning or similar would not be detectable by the club.

The club would not have known it had been sold on.

If the club could detect it they then no one would ever get away with it.

I know it is just a post on here so may not be true at all, the club's excuses in the past when things don't work seem like it is the first thing to come into their head, rather than looking into or admitting an issue, and this seems like another example.

You can't download a season ticket or membership more than twice even if one is then deleted, it's a total of 2 downloads per season not multiple downloads but can only ever be held on 2 phones, if that makes sense?
