Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

When is the club going to call this corrupt **** of a referee out ? Any of the red shits would of had whoever nowhere near their games, which has happened many times. Bacon face basically told the Premier League who was reffing his games. But no, we'll take it on the chin as always and this total shit will again fuck us over. That refereeing was absolutely fuckin disgraceful!
About us. So gut wrenching to give that goal away at the end but hey ho, shit happens. If you'd of offered me a point before the game I'd of bitten your hand off. When the dust settles we'll look back on a fantastic week and one we'd of all taken before the derby. But playing against 12 men, especially after only having 48 hours rest after the Goons had double that. It was bloody hard! I'll take that blues.

WTF ? do you know football at all ? You think we would have won that game going all out attack ? Dippers lucky? Their a top team who create their one fortune by going right to the end and believing themselves. They'll walk the league this year but man I was impressed with our bravery today and it gives me hope we can push for a domestic trophy and top 4.
Too teamor not, they have been extremely fortunate in every one of their 5 eague games so far!

....A draw is probably a fair result. Neither of us looked amazing but I do feel we have room for improvement whilst Arsenal are probably as good as they're going to get.....

Onwards and upwards.
That's a fantastic summary.

Sorry but I totally agree with him and the 34% possession stat does too. We scraped a point today but given the number of times teams have come to park the bus against us and failed miserably should tell everyone that most of the time it's a tactic that doesn't work.

Thankfully they were devoid of ideas. Play like that at Anfield and we'll get murdered.
Give over mate, pep played to our strengths today, we don't have the personnel to go hell for leather against the top teams, we got the goal and set up camp, just like all the other teams do.
We won't get murdered at anfield as we play them at our place first this year and by the time February comes around for the anfield game we will have been firing on all cylinders for at least a couple of months, trust the process chief, pep knows what he's doing

They two days more rest than we, their team cannot get any stronger.
If Donnarumma hadn't have had a brain fart we would have won.

I think we were poor because City played so well. Defensively City were excellent. Most teams are going to go to the Emirates and leave with nothing. Dippers have gotten 1 point in 3 years here. As a non-City fan I thought your team showed togetherness and fight plus a lot of grit. You can't go and smash teams left right and centre every week. Pretty sure the City side that last won the league lost at the Emirates btw. That point could be massive for City (or Arsenal) at the end of the season.
We are generally pretty average defensively. Arsenal were just poor in the final 3rd. That centre forward is bobbins mate, championship at best.

Well played CITY!
A great result with how this season has gone so far.

To have that week we've had, after so many, including on here, were writing our season off already, has been brilliant and just what we needed.

I predicted a draw beforehand so i'm alright about it, but we were so close to stealing one there!

I am proud of the lads to work so hard and play a system that’s never been in their dna.

This could be helpful come cup games.
It shows Pep can be more pragmatic without the ball.

I was never confident in a win but we were so close. I think the last 2subs weren’t entirely correct.

The biggest errors in my opinion:
1. Haaland not passing to Foden for the tap in. 0-2 and we’ve destroyed all hope.
2. Savio and Tijanji no going to the corner in the 92 min.
3. Donnarumma coming off his line for no reason.

Pep taking out Khusonov makes no sense to me. If he’s still there his pace take cares of every issue. Especially when Dias won 1/5 aerial duels.
Nunes sub makes no sense since we didn’t attack. He was great but you asked him to do everything Khusonov can do to a better degree.
Taking off Foden was understandable but Haaland was the sub that was incorrect. He was our biggest outlet and the reason we won 2nd balls. He also was our reason why they never scored from corners. Bernardo should’ve been taken out instead.

We have to win 5-6 games in a row.

The team and tactics were impressive. They almost worked !

Doku and OR my standout players.

Tijanji should skip the next game. He’s really struggled since his first game. Great assist but my goodness the Serie A truly showed me how slow that league is. I still have faith in him

I think Nico G should come back to the side idc if Rodri is the one that plays higher up i just think Tijanji needs time off. Bobb at RW is needed.

Lessons learned ?
We can defend and be very disciplined.
Never take off Khusonov
Every game is a final to stay in touching distance of Pool.
I take it you didn't see Khusonov limping at the end of the first half after being kicked to shit ffs

Gutted we conceded at the death. But we take a point and move on. Up the fuckin blues.

I don't think it was so much of a personnel thing as it was the fact we played on Thursday, we have some injuries, and others returning from injury like Rodri. Our standard approach requires us to outrun the opposition - that is pretty core to Pep's whole ethos, work hard off the ball and take a break on the ball. I think Pep has come to accept that in some circumstances, and with the rest of the league as athletic as it is these days, sometimes outrunning the opponent just isn't possible.

I thought Pep got the tactics spot on to be honest. Arsenal away, on the back of a tricky Derby game then Napoli asked a lot of our players especially when many of them won't have had a good pre-season with that Club Cup etc on and international breaks.

If we'd gone 0-2 up then I think everyone would be saying we were amazing etc. I'd have taken a point before the game and we were unlucky really to miss out. They didn't really have many good chances and the one they did was finished really well.

We've played so many teams where they sit with 10 behind the ball it was nice to dish it out. I thought Pep got 2 subs wrong though - Haaland and Doku. If you want to sit back and play it long then you need a target man and without him, the ball just came back at us and we lost his height on corners and lacked any threat. I thought Doku looked very dangerous and is the kind of player who can create something out of nothing. Savinho looks worse to me every time I see him now. He just offered nothing when he came on instead of running around and trying to put some pressure on them. All that said, Pep knows which players are tired etc!

Overall, I think that tactic might be used against the top teams and especially in the CL against teams where a Haaland will make the difference.

Donnarumma is EXACTLY the keeper we need. He's an absolute beast and just dominates his area. Arsenal look very dangerous on set pieces and Rice is superb at delivery. But Donna just punched everything away and never looked threatened at all.

Overall, the last 3 games have seen us conceed 1 goal against United, Napoli and Arsenal. I see that as an improvement and the team is starting to look more resilient which all title winning teams are. I'm not sure we will win the title but if we tighten up at the back and keep Haaland fit we'll have a good chance.
