45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

I was having a closer look at the incident where Khus got injured, to me it seems that Gabriel backs towards Khus, raises his right foot (looks innocent until then), but then his foot speeds up as it is coming down onto Khus' foot, to me there is room for believing that it was an intentional stamping - maybe I'm looking for something that isn't there, but with Arsenal there are no limits to their depravity

Don’t players now use boots that protect the metatarsal? Not saying it that but that’s probably worse case. Seems rare these days which I put down to new boot design

His sliding tackels are very satsifying to watch, but there's a reason world class defenders don't go to ground much these day, it takes you out of the game, it's riskier and has less control. It's all or nothing defending.

That's why Walker was so good, he'd just catch up, push the player off the ball and pick it up and restart an attack like nothing had happened.

As Paolo Maldini said, "If I have to make a tackle I've already made a mistake". Khusanov will make fewer and fewer of them as he adapts to RB and playing for Pep more - but we'll still love a perfectly timed one when it's called for.
Josko use to tackle a lot at RBL - or a lot more than he does today - so much I always wondered if they were specifically told not to.

Completely intentional. Should have been off

I've not seen it again, unlike every other minor skermish that seems to be replayed in slow mo.
It did look to me in real time that his foot kind of stamped down, wouldn't surprise me at all if it was done on purpose

I'm not convinced that was deliberate . Was gutted when he was taken off though . He is the difference in our defence . With him off and the attacking changes Arsenal made it was a long 45 + 9 minutes .

Let's hope the injury is minor. To rely on Stones and Ake to stay fit is to repeat the mistake from last season.

Arsenal friend of mine was talking back and forth during the game Sunday, I said they were lucky with kush going off and nunes on, he said nunes was shit but the other player (kush) was shitter! I was quick to put him right!

Arsenal have always been dirty bastads. Even recent history showed the targeting of Rodri. Aided and abetted by the PL and pigmol of course.

Laughable how the media wankers aren't willing to cut him any slack since that nightmare first game against Chelsea. They've set their own narrative that he's shit and a joke of a player where they couldn't be further from the truth. He will develop into a great talent
I honestly couldn't give less of a fuck what any of the media say about our players, it's pretty bleeding obvious khus is going to be some player

Pep Guardiola on Abdukodir Khusanov: "He can play as a central defender, all positions at the back, expect left-back. He's not a player that can create a lot up front, but his side is unbelievably solid and stable. His physicality, backwards [recovery] is like Kyle [Walker] in his prime!"He's incredibly focussed, so young, wants to learn. He's been really, really good against tough, tough opponents that we faced. His first experience coming from Uzbekistan to French [football], eight games in Ligue 1, after came here in a season that was difficult. When you come and everything is set and clicking, it's easier to settle... But he is incredibly open to learning quick."I think you smell that he is an incredible, top signing for the next many, many years in this club. This guy will make a career in #ManCity for many years!"
