Ballon D'or 2025

Really wasn't a standout player last season. I am strongly against how heavily weighted the decision is towards the champions league and the national tournaments when they're played but given that they are weighted that way, Dembele winning it makes sense. Is he the best player in the world? Absolutely not but he probably had the best season.

Chloe Kelly placing 5th in the women's is truly outrageous. She spent most of the season on our bench, had a few cameos for Arsenal then spent the Euros on the bench too with a couple of key contributions from the bench and a few pens. Genuinely mental she is even in the conversation.

Absolutely agree, and it's what makes me so very suspicious of it as an award. Dembele had a very good season, in an outstanding team. Yamal is different level. On his day, he's different level to almost everyone. It matters not one jot that he's still a teenager, and so “has time”.

Because as Cruyff said. It’s a popularity exercise

They should only hand it out to truly exceptional players or miss a year or two out until one arrives that actually deserves it.

After Rodri, not one player has really been wow level. The level of Ronaldo and Messi was insane so anything after is abit of a let down.

Haaland should have received it even in a sub standard year for club due to what happened him with Messi. Bad luck that.

Overall he is due.

Must have been low key, this. Didn’t hear or read anything about it unlike last year.

That was a fucking treat that to see Rodri win it and Vini J spit out his dummy!

Apart from the Rodri year obviously, this award has had little credibility since Haaland’s debut season of 52 goals In 53 games and a Treble didn’t get the gong
Rodri was the best player in the world that season as well though.

The organisers of this joke of an award were blindsided by the Madrid wankers, in one short year they devalued the fuck out of the process with their churlish behaviour.

If we don't win we don't turn up.

Fucking delicious :)

I'm not sure why people get so wound up by this. It's been modified a number of times in terms of eligibility and how winners are chosen.

It didn't even follow the football calendar until recently.

The fact Haaland or Rodri didn't win it after our treble season is ridiculous. I think that's largely why Rodri then won it last year - he'd kept that form going and had been part of another title success and a Euro's win.

There will always be arguments over the winner, but Dembele was a key player in PSG's treble and they also made the CWC final so it's much deserved.

My criteria would be "do they play for Real or the Dippers"? Then they can't win. And that seems to be true for the past few seasons so happy days!

After Rodri ? He won it last year. You talking like it’s been for the last 20 years. Dembele had a strong season. If Messi and Ronaldo are the standard for it. No one will win it in the next 50 years

Donnarumma has a chance depending on tonight and cwc.
And he has the Yashin Trophy. Hampton got the Women’s version and the BBC hail her as the best goalkeeper in the world. However, they either haven’t woken up to Giorgio’s trophy or they are deliberately ignoring it ‘cos putting out a positive story for City doesn’t meet with Salford Quays mission statement!

Shouldn’t be every year anyway. Over 3/4 seasons would show a true reflection.
