Really wasn't a standout player last season. I am strongly against how heavily weighted the decision is towards the champions league and the national tournaments when they're played but given that they are weighted that way, Dembele winning it makes sense. Is he the best player in the world? Absolutely not but he probably had the best season.
Behave you clown. I did, 2 yrs ago, it was shit. Messi should never have won that years Balon D’or for a 4 week tournament.Watch the WC
Because as Cruyff said. It’s a popularity exerciseReally wasn't a standout player last season. Chloe Kelly placing 5th in the women's is truly outrageous. She spent most of the season on our bench, had a few cameos for Arsenal then spent the Euros on the bench too with a couple of key contributions from the bench and a few pens. Genuinely mental she is even in the conversation.
Rodri was the best player in the world that season as well though.Apart from the Rodri year obviously, this award has had little credibility since Haaland’s debut season of 52 goals In 53 games and a Treble didn’t get the gong
I think Russo should have won it.Oh I agree with you 100% on that. However Russo was top scorer for the CL winners and was a key member of the Euro winners.
Must have been low key, this. Didn’t hear or read anything about it unlike last year.
That was a fucking treat that to see Rodri win it and Vini J spit out his dummy!
This.Apart from the Rodri year obviously, this award has had little credibility since Haaland’s debut season of 52 goals In 53 games and a Treble didn’t get the gong
After Rodri ? He won it last year. You talking like it’s been for the last 20 years. Dembele had a strong season. If Messi and Ronaldo are the standard for it. No one will win it in the next 50 yearsThey should only hand it out to truly exceptional players or miss a year or two out until one arrives that actually deserves it.
After Rodri, not one player has really been wow level. The level of Ronaldo and Messi was insane so anything after is abit of a let down.
Haaland should have received it even in a sub standard year for club due to what happened him with Messi. Bad luck that.
Overall he is due.
And he has the Yashin Trophy. Hampton got the Women’s version and the BBC hail her as the best goalkeeper in the world. However, they either haven’t woken up to Giorgio’s trophy or they are deliberately ignoring it ‘cos putting out a positive story for City doesn’t meet with Salford Quays mission statement!Donnarumma has a chance depending on tonight and cwc.
Shouldn’t be every year anyway. Over 3/4 seasons would show a true reflection. After Rodri ? He won it last year. You talking like it’s been for the last 20 years. Dembele had a strong season. If Messi and Ronaldo are the standard for it. No one will win it in the next 50 years
