ID cards.

I like david icke, and he's probably right on this not everything he comes out with is bonkers but are those all really his 'predictions' he seems to take every single outlandish 'conspiracy theory' someone else came up with and put them in books which he sells on one of the billionaires he probably thinks is a lizard website.More a case of throwing enough darts

He's certainly invested he's been doing this for decades. I've watched a few of his documentaries on YouTube and bits here and there other people post on him.
Humans have to keep open minds on what's happening in the world, too many are still willing to believe everything in the MSM and what's spouted in parliament.

They have wanted this for years, the resentment of migration is the tool they are going to use.

I would love to know the real reasoning behind this.

Thin end of the wedge, just wait until you have to scan your card for access to certain areas or websites. Go to a concert, scan yoursef in, go to work, scan yourself in. Get found without one, nice little fine. Start linking it to your bank, its about control and nothing else.

Mastercard know what we buy
Deliveroo know what we eat
Uber know where we go
Twitter knows what we think
Facebook knows what are children look like and when thier birthdays are

I’m not sure an ID card is an invasion of privacy as society gave up privacy a long time ago

Most European countries have them and don’t seem to have a problem. I’m just not sure what the point is when I have a national insurance number, driving license and passport

Apart from bank cards I don't use any of the above, in part because I have no confidence in the preparedness of companies to treat my personal information in line with my wishes and no confidence in regulators to force them to do so but mostly because I think their products and business models are scummy.

My big issue with the proposal though is that it's a significant change that wasn't in the manifesto and I'm pretty sure they'll be no coherent case presented for the benefits vs costs.

Instead of further digitising our lives the government would be better employed on increasing the integrity and security of our existing digital infrastructure because there's plenty to do there.

So we all have digital ID cards, we present them when we go to say our GPs to prove eligibility, Mr illegal immigrant goes to the Dr, has no Digital ID, does he get lifted and deported, is he and his family detained, put in a camp and flown out of the country, unless the answer is yes, it's not going to deter illegal immigration.

So they will have to show the ID to be legally employed in the UK when this is implemented....I guess Starmer has never heard of the black economy. They'll be paid cash in hand and won't give a shit, it's not going to stop anything

He believes what he wrote, his opinion, you don't, your opinion.
This isn't about Icke though, the point I was making is he predicted digital id was the end goal for governments decades ago and here we are.
I feared it would degenerate into an Icke debate when we really should be resisting the roll.out of digital id.

He claimed the world would end in 1997. Some were predicting the dangers of digital ID and surveillance well before he did.

I have yet to form an opinion as I do not yet know enough about it. I imagine many have made their mind up already sans facts and having any understanding.

One thing I do not understand is why most have no issues sharing data with billionaires but are reluctant to share just a fraction of personal data their own government. What makes billionaires more trustworthy?

Everyone gets pissed off by every single thing, it’s a national pastime.

plastic bags = OUTRAGE
Congestion charge = OUTRAGE
Smoking ban in pubs = OUTRAGE
ULEZ = OUTRAGE

pile this one into the outrage bank before the next thing to get angry about in a couple weeks.

From what I can tell ID makes it significantly harder to use fake documents, overstay visas, or slip through loopholes in the employment system — and it makes employers more accountable - which will help tackle illegal migration, Farage is whipping up everyone to not back this. Suprise suprise.
Although employers are currently supposed to ensure that people working for them have a right to so do, so not sure how an ID card helps?
As for Farage, I’d imagine, despite his faux outrage, he is a big user of the illegal economy so wouldn’t be keen on helping the natives, if that’s what it does…
