AFU in the Pokrovsk direction surrounded the Russians in three "pocket", depriving them of their main means of retreat, - Russian voenkor.

More than 330 km² and 16 settlements have been liberated, Russian positions are cut off from logistics, AFU drones are tracking and destroying Russian convoys, complicating supplies.

I think Putin needs it to justify full mobilisation and to cover the failure of the war in Ukraine which in around 100 days will have lasted as long as the Great Patriotic War.

I read that Poland is looking to change its domestic law allowing them to act unilaterally and without consulting its allies before taking military action.

It’s all pointing one way atm.

There was a theory I read recently regards Putin playing the long game and intentionality not rolling out the big guns against Ukraine, making it look like he cant even take them on and drawing in Europe based on the confidence they could swat Russia aside once they are tempted in. At that point all hell breaks loose and Russia throw everything they have held back at Europe which is much more than they have let be shown in Ukraine. I hope there is no basis to this but based on the lack of success and seemingly very aged and out of date equipment being used currently , surely that cant be all they have been stockpiling the last few decades?

Surely Russia is playing the long game with 1million casualties and over 22k vehicles lost.

You can check this site, every lose is visually recorded with photo evidence since the beginning of the war, actual loses are probably even higher as not everything gets confirmed. A reminder of the scale here, the UK has around 200 Challenger Tanks.

The only concern in all this retreating for me is, are they getting their guys out of there so they can drop the motherload or is Ukraine genuinely getting the upper hand?

I'm sure this has an obvious answer , but if countries like Poland have sufficient armourments to be sharing with the Ukraine, and given its fractuous relationship with Russia why haven't Ukraine got Tanks, Rockets , Planes etc already to hand ? , is it that Russia have already destroyed them all in which case they must be doing better than we are seeing reported? Or where they never prepared for ever fighting any kind of war.

I think the real risk here is that now the leash is somewhat removed from Ukraine , Russia may well get their arses handed to them on the battle field, once a bully is seen publicly to be weak they either crumble or lash out with everything they have, no one knows which of the 2 will surface.

If we end up like 1916 and they start conscripting they arent taking my son to the front line of Ukraine because Zeleknski cant let go of his stubbornness and see the writing is on the wall , he isnt getting Russia out of the land they have taken despite how morally corrupt it will be when they take it permanently

Russia is absolutely on its arse. Its getting weaker by the day and Ukraine's attacks on infrastructure seem to be unrelenting. The only question now is how and when Putins regime crumbles.

He's been very effective at taking out any perceived threat to his rule. However the Russian people are going to go cold and hungry this winter. Something will have to give at some point. Winter is not normally the time for revolution, spring 2026 could be it.
