30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

He's talented but I think he's got bad advisors like McAtee.

Hopefully Echeverri works out like Zinny.. failed loan and then a mainstay with the main team.

He had a few minutes with a little promise in the FA cup, I don't recall him playing at all in the premier league.

Sav has been varied but he has scored goals and created chances in the premier league

But above everything my point stands that they don't play in the same position so one really is not in at the expense of the other.
We have more players who play centrally than wide so Echeveria chances were likely to be limited.
Savinho has scored one goal in the premier league mate, in 32 games

We sent him on loan for 9 months, it’s really not that big a deal if it takes him a few to get used to leverkusen, learn some German and get in the starting XI.

If we had bought a teenager, no one would be freaking out if he’d got 4 sub appearances in 6 games.

Surely you can see he’s got the ability to start scoring a lot more goals though? Just like with Doku it was clear to see he was worth persevering with(despite his flaws) because he has unique talent.

Doku has shown a lot more in my opinion, if Savinho had Dokus ability to beat a man at will I would happily persevere.

I’m happy to keep Savinho, but all I’ve said that is if the money spurs were reportedly offering was true, I would have bitten their hands off and kept Echeverri.

I get the timelines didn’t quite line up on that but I don’t really see how Savinho gets games once Cherki recovers, Bobb gets sharper and Marmoush comes back.

What does Echeverri have to do with savinho though ? One is a central player the other a winger

Echeverri didn’t always start, and didn’t even always come on when he was a sub, at River Plate. It’s not like he’s some teenage sensation who was tearing up the Argentine league and Copa Libertadores.

The season he was back on loan at River Plate after we announced his signing, he only started 4 of their 12 Copa Lib games and, while he started a higher proportion of league games, he was hooked at half time as many times as he played a full 90mins.

We signed Echeverri 3 years earlier than we signed Álvarez. He hadn’t even been afforded time to develop at the level he was barely making an impact on, never mind in Europe. Álvarez did get that time and, at 21, was named South American Footballer of the Year after he did tear it up in the Argentine league and Copa Libertadores.

It doesn’t surprise me that he’s not getting much game time at Leverkusen.

He’s the sort of signing that Portuguese and non-elite Spanish teams would traditionally make and develop in their own time, patiently. Now it seems to be the case that PL teams are buying these players too young and having someone on their hands they don’t really know what to do with.

He’s of EDS age but he’s been sent on loan to a top-end German team when he’s not really at that level yet.

I'd be happy to see both here for this season, Echeverri and Savinho.
Not sure why but our current squad seems to be due to a lack of planning or running out of time in the loans out/ transfer out side.
Very happy with the players brought in during the last 2 transfer windows, including the likes of Nypan, Echeverri, Reis , Bah etc. who are currently on loan.
Cannot understand why we left it so late to finalise deals for the likes of Gundogan, Akanji, Ortega, Philipps. With 2 days to go to the deadline no one seemed to know who was going and to where.
Incredible to think we have 4 keepers, 3 whom we have just bought plus one spare in Ortega.
Echeverri was loaned out reasonably early but even that was not straightforward, eventually leading to a loan to Leverkeusen, a team neither ourselves or Echeverri initially wanted.
Savinho being thrown in to the argument is a bit of a red herring as the Echeverri decision had been made.
Savinhos name cropped up when Spurs were discussing McAtee and Spurs enquired about availability of Savinho. Pep sees something in Savinho but he definitely needs to up his game.

We may see something similar again next year unless the more senior players future situation is decided long before the end of the transfer window.
Echeverri, Nypan, Mukasa, Bah, Reis will be chomping at the bit and expecting to be in a position to replace these senior players.

I’d say he’s got better touch and technique than Doku (don’t get me wrong i love Doku and he’s my favourite out of the 2).All depends on who does the business out of those 3. I really like Bobb but hard to say that he’ll nail down the right. Excited to see Cherki back but he’s a complete maverick and might take a while to settle. As for Marmoush he won’t play on the right and if Doku keeps this form up he won’t be starting too many games.

At least we have plenty of options as we know we could soon get a couple more injuries.

We made it very clear we didn’t want any of those players. What do you expect the club to do when no one wants them?

Not wait until the last day of the transfer window.
Grealish and Walker were sorted out early.
Good loans for both of them and not a major disruption to their family situation.
I'm far from an ITK but it was obvious to most that we had too many players and that bold decisions had to be made
If it was Gundogan and Akanji that were on the list of possible departures, this should have been done much earlier .
Grealish and Walker did not travel to CWC so I'm assuming that there were negotiations being worked on for their departures at that stage.
I know players are on contract and you just can't turf them out the back door but Ortega and Philipps are still at the club with little or no chance of kicking a ball for us again. The priority should have been working on deals that suited all parties.
Remember that we had bought nearly all our players before we went on that CWC tour.

You think City waited till the last day out of choice? Clubs knew we were desperate and why start paying wages before you have to.

You don’t need to be ITK to see that ageing players on huge contracts off the back of a shit season are not exactly hot property. We should be thankful we even shifted them and didn’t end up like Chelsea with Sterling etc

Ortega had several opportunities to leave, refused. Phillips recovering from an ACL, why would any club want to take that on?

City can’t cancel contracts of players just because we don’t want them anymore.

So what would be your solution?

There is no solution, if there was we would have done it.

Several more contracts run out in the summer, so that makes it easy for some, but someone like Phillips you have to sit back and hope someone will take a punt. We should be very thankful 90% of our transfers are successful.

Unused sub for Leverkusen 2-0 Union Berlin on Sat. 4th October

He has 3 sub. app. in the Bundesliga totalling 49 mins, and 2 sub. app. in the Bundesliga totalling 33 mins.

This must be disappointing for Echeverri and for City. It would be better if he was training at Manchester City.

He should've gone to Girona. He would've started 3/4 games by now.

So he has 5 sub app. in the Bundesliga totalling 82 mins?

Fucking idiot just like McAtee

City had a plan for them both but they both veto'ed it and ruined their own progress trying to speed up their careers.

You can't fix stupid!

Surely the only way to show you have the ability to score goals is to err score goals?
