What has the UK become under the far right influence?

Remember the Manchester Arena bombing.
Check the crime statistics by colour, ethnenticity, gender, or any other criteria.
Observe this week's terrorist murders in Heaton Park.

So many immigrants to our country hate the west, hate Great Britain, hate Christianity, hate our history and success and want to destroy us and everything we stand for.

Our benefits are the major reason for our country being attractive, which is why they will traverse as many countries as necessary to come here illegally.....they don't refer to us as 'Treasure Island' without good reason !!
Well, now we now the answer to the thread title.

Part of the Tories,Reform and allowed to continue under labour plan to re label asylum seekers as illegal immigrants to justify the attacks and demonising asylum seekers and refugees. And it’s now accepted with barely any challenge.
Under what sky are you living under if you think boat migrants are asylum seekers?
Illegal migrants is the correct term for what they are.

Aren't around 70% of those whose cases have been heard acceepted as genuine asylum seeker. So yes. This isn't difficult spend money, treat them humanely as we deal with the cases, hear their stories and deal with them as individuals, instead of some blanket everyone the same assumption.

I would presume you would accept that the other way round a discussion on extra taxation, public services, loss of green areas, more consumption, more concrete, more crime more congestion...........

People only ever seem to be concerned with economic growth on here in the main.

The absurdity of unlimited economic growth on a planet with finite resources - Jane Goodall
…more people: more electricity demand, more water demand, more housing demand, more waste, more imports, more traffic, more pollution, more demand on public services, more demand on public transport, more demand on our farmland, more crime, more division, more hate, just a general trend towards a much worse country… all for a bit more tax raised and a slightly better economy?

Nope! It’s not with the trade off. We need fewer people, not more.

They are literally seeking asylum, so they certainly are asylum seekers.

You can attach other labels too if you like.

We need fewer people, not more.

People like to say this, but the same people also generally like to have medical treatment, food deliveries, taxis and all manner of other services that are absolutely dependent on immigrants.

I'd be more inclined to take it seriously if it also came with "and I want to pay more tax, I want to wait longer for NHS treatment, and I'd like beer to cost more"

But it never does.

More people working and paying taxes, particularly in sectors (care, transport, distribution) that struggle to find staff. More people starting businesses and creating jobs. More people building houses, buying stuff from shops, contributing to the economy.

Fewer people means less tax revenue (particularly with a declining birthrate and ageing population) and less ability to pay for services like the NHS, pensions, public transport, police etc.

The current narrative is that immigration is a cost to the country, people ignore the many positives.

In this post here, I did mention completely reforming tax so that we all paid more.

So it’s not ‘never’ is it?

That's quite a long post!

You didn't however, mention any downsides in the one I replied to, and neither in that long post is any acknowledgement that you'll actually have to pay more overall - to quote

"reform tax so that people pay more income tax but have fewer outgoings after monthly deductions. "

There isn't a free lunch to be had here. If you reduce immigration, you'll have less services and more tax.

I think there are arguments for not allowing the population to increase as much as you fear, but there are also major downsides. We should be honest about them.

Reading this thread just shows how divided the country is, the country is completely fucked, I have given up now, there is no hope. i have maybe another 25 trips round the sun and thats too many.

Not sure which thread to put this in

Prof Nicola Ranger, the RCN general secretary, told the Guardian on Monday: “Health and care services would cease to function without migrant nursing staff. While other countries offer immediate paths to settlement for nurses, the UK is going in the opposite direction.”
