Rangers thread | 2025/26

Would anyone of real quality take it right now? The squad you have, the immediate fix mentality of your support?

McKinnes would and does want to manage his team, but, would he be given the time to make it happen? I think he will get there, but he does well with Hearts and he buys time to get it right.

I hope you get Dyches. After he improves them, but not enough. gets blootered out the door, then maybe Mckinnes might consider it when he has a chance to take it that final step.

His heart may want it, but he's no mug
The statement from the owners was interesting today. Basically accepting the Martin appointment was a big mistake and they will be taking a much more active role in the next guy who comes in, rather than leaving it to those dimwits Stewart and Thelwell.

Watch us end up with Jesse Marsch now or someone of that ilk.

This job was far more appealing to any would be manager in the summer than it is now I imagine. In the summer there was the feel good factor from the takeover and a decent budget to evolve the squad. Now a large chunk of cash has been spent to make this squad somehow worse than last season and we've all seen how ugly it can get with the fans when things aren't working.

God knows who will be in the dugout next.

Slippy. Its a done deal.

At the time no but he has done brilliantly at Coventry.
A better choice than Gerrard now.
I just don't get the Gerrard for any managers job.
It was a straight choice between Lampard and Clement. Souness was asked for his advice and publicly backed Lampard but the board , after asking for advice, ignored him and went with the Belgian.

I’m a huge Lampard fan , even with my deep dislike of Chelsea, but I’ll be honest and say I wanted Clement st that time

Lampard has gone on to prove me wrong and done a fantastic job at Coventry

Gerrard? Really?

Read shit loads of FF comments saying they'd take him back in a heartbeat.
I'm guessing that a lot of that support is driven by sentiment. He stopped the ten in a row, after all. He doesn't convince me as a manager, though. As good as he was at Rangers, he was (to use the Glaswegian terminology, utter pish at Villa.

Good at Rangers?

He won 1 trophy. Callum Davidson won more at St Johnstone!!

He failed in every domestic cup competition

His failure to get past a bang average 10 man Malmo and fail to reach the Champions League groups cost the club tens of millions. A real sliding doors moment as we had no money to improve squad. He walks out and they bring in Ange and back him in the January and we’ve never recovered

He blocked the sale of numerous players when their market value was at their peak and those players left for nothing again costing the club tens of millions

Repeated post Christmas collapses.

That trophy might have stopped ten but so what? He’s proven himself to be a failure of a manager

Sorry but being better than Pedro Caxhnia is not enough

ETA… Sorry you’re getting the brunt of my frustration at Gerrard fan boys pish on FF
