Rangers thread | 2025/26

I heard the Gucci belt is already contacting the removal company hahaha
Rogers isnt us. I will shed no tears when he goes. I shed no tears when anybody does. Similar to your mob, we are the club. People pass through.

Is brown brogues in the job spec? Did it start with Walter Smith? Although he was stylish, Souness tended to wear trackies - not as bad as Martin O'Neill who was usually full kit wanker with boots and shinpads in case he had to sub himself on as a trialist.

I'd go for Dyche - he's a better manager than Slippy but Rangers are not a big draw any more, much like our former city rivals.
Graeme Souness wore a suit and tie on the sidelines during his time as Rangers manager, a tradition that reflects the club's values of professionalism and dignity, as seen in Getty Images photos and described in discussions about the importance of this attire for managers.

  • Respect for Tradition:
Rangers are a traditional club, and managers are expected to look smart and classy, which includes wearing a suit on matchdays.

I think I'm remembering Souness as a player-manager being on the bench in a tracksuit. Question is why the brown brogues/shoes? Martin was wearing white soled smart trainers, a suit but no tie - no wonder he got sacked.

If they qualified for the CL, where top of the league, hammered us at Ibrox. no one would give a single fuck about his shoes. His hair. His Kaftan. HisTofu. Vegan bacon rolls and monthly subscription to Buddhism Weekly.

A lot of chatter about Lampard. He's better than Slippy. Out of the two, the Scouse **** gets my vote.

Would Lampard leave Coventry at the moment, with them flying at the top of the Championship? I'm guessing that he'd love another chance to prove himself as a PL manager, having been underwhelming at Everton and Chelsea. Of course, there's no guarantee that Coventry will last the course. If Rangers did come calling, he faces a difficult choice.

No

But he’s got an emotional tie to Rangers. So never say never.

Beat Gucci Belt and an EPL team will come calling.

Brown Brogues come in all sizes …..

Conversely, he gets handed his arse, its curtains. He will look at your squad and say, not today.

Not taking the piss here, but really? I don't recall him playing for you. And given his roots, I'm guessing that he didn't grow up a boyhood Rangers fan (though I stand to be corrected on that). West Ham was probably his team as a kid, seeing as he's from Romford.

The whole club is a shambles. Lampard would be nuts to swap top of the Championship to a mid-table battle in Scotland. It will be Slippy and the hordes will welcome him back. There's a reason no other clubs want him - he couldn't make it work in Saudi and is being outperformed by Rooney in the punditry dept so has limited options.

Martin's treatment was a disgrace, despite his abysmal record no one deserves to be treated like that, not even Barry the Ned.

He’s hardly kept his fondness for Rangers a secret and has been a semi regular visitor to games.

John Terry has a fondness for the other side but that’s not really a surprise

Ill informed nonsense. He was a disgrace and an utter embarrassment almost from day one.

His attitude to his players, attitude to the support was dreadful.

The board were far too slow in chasing that arrogant bastard out the club.

To top it all he arranges a photo shoot of him cold water swimming at Loch Lomond days after being sacked. His parting GIRUY to the club and support.

Gerrard wanting Gary Mac, Jermaine DeFoe and Steve Davis for his back room staff. All hugely popular among the support

No mention of Mick Beale

Between fuck off and no thank you that type of choice

I'm very well informed, I'm half Scottish and one of my relatives was at the Falkirk match. No manager deserves to be treated like that - considering the board employed RM you are trusting the same idiots with another appointment.

Gerrard is a poor manager (and a massive dickhead too) but that's the level Rangers are at. Even if you could tempt McInnes it would still be a shambles. McCoist, Durrant and Ferguson were hugely popular with the support but useless as coaches. Gary Mac is working as motivational speaker - maybe they could get him back on a no win - no fee basis.

Even in City's darkest days the manager was never treated as bad as this and we had Alan Ball and Stuart Pearce. Nothing will change with Rangers fans belief that a new manager will make a huge differnce.

For a start it’s not the same people choosing the new manager. Misinformed nonsense right there.

I did have a laugh at ‘I’m half Scottish’. So what?

After the disdain RM showed the support he got away very lightly.

Supporters and especially match going supporters have every right to protest or show their displeasure when one person is so obviously out of his depth

Some of my relatives are fans/season ticket holders so I'm not making media based comments. I've been to Ibrox in the late 80s when David Holmes was the last decent chairman so have a decent understanding. The current club Sevco/49ers are a shambles of Linkedin wankers. Souness was brought in as a consultant last time and suggested Lampard but the club chose Clement. The fans wouldn't have treated Barry like that even though he was appointed years after being sacked by Alloa, working as a pundit and had only a marginally better record than RM but surrounded himself with ex-players/legends and still couldn't succeed.

The match going supporters that stopped the bus from leaving at Falkirk were teenage scrotes in balaclavas. Every club has them I suppose.

Rangers/49ers and Gerrard deserve each other - as long as there's soldiers parachuting into the ground for king and country to keep the spirits up and will unlikely to finish 3rd this season. That's not the fault of the poorly appointed managers - it's the board/club/owners. Just my opinion.

And you are entitled to your opinion ….

I have had a season ticket since 1982. I’ve follow followed home and away since the mid to late 70s. So I think I’m in a fairly decent position to comment on Rangers.

As for Barry Ferguson. I was there when ‘Supporters’ walked out the stadium when he came on as a sub after PLG left. I was there when ‘supporters’ walked out when he came after the Scotland fiasco. I hardly went to a game last season when he was put in charge. Joke of a decision and for me was a sign the old board had just given the season up!

There were about 20 UBs who stopped the bus. I’ve never hidden my feelings towards this part of the support and had a few run ins with them , especially away from home,

As for the 49ers. They’ve made mistakes and have held their hands up to that. They cannot make that mistake again.

I don’t want Gerrard but if he’s surrounded by decent people then maybe he can turn this season around as I don’t believe the players / team are as poor as the results have been. I’d be delighted to see Davis back at the club and someone I always believed would be a future manager

I think people look at the 1 in 9 with Gerrard without any context.

This was the team that played in the last game of the season before Gerrard took over, drew 5-5 at Easter Road.

Alnwick, Tavernier, Martin, Bates, Halliday, Rossiter, Goss, Holt; Candeias, Cummings, Murphy.

The last Old Firm result previous to that was a 5-0 defeat to Celtic, and the last European result was being beat in the Europa League qualifiers by Progres from Luxembourg.

To go from how far Celtic were ahead of us when he took over, to beating them to a league title unbeaten and making Europa League quarter finals within a couple of seasons was night and day.

His biggest disappointment was their performance in domestic cup competitions, and that will need to improve. He certainly wasn't perfect, but it was 1 of the only times in the last 15 or so years i'd say Rangers actually felt like the Rangers of old in terms of connection with fans, standards, and just the way he acted and carried himself.
