And neither is it mine. We go away in the winter for a couple of months so it's a long time away to carry just cash. The banks in Thailand charge £6(unavoidable charge) to use an ATM so I do get a big amount out each time, but of course as it's a cash withdrawal interest is charged straight away. I "pre load" it and interest is then absolutely minimal. The good thing is the exchange rate is usually pretty close to the published exchange rates.reality is however you do it, dodge this, dodge that, dodge the other, financial institutions make money on currency exchanges - accept this and just take the easiest route for you. Generally I have a a few hundred dollars or euros to hand almost all the time but equally I'll pay for stuff on cards when I need to. You can't win, and the effort in squeezing out a few quid in savings is not worth MY time.
