5 | John Stones - 2025/26

Now will you all get off John Boy's back. HE PLAYED WELL, HE HAD AN ASSIST AND HE DIDNT' GET INJURED. So please leave him alone now. My nerves and my blood pressure can't stand it. ;-) :-)
Given his injury record and lack of availability for his actual employers over the last 12 months , he should never have been involved in the first place.

Looks like they got him match fit, giving him good minutes in both games, but taking him off.

There were times when he was standing or walking, while huffing and puffing, so it was clear to see he was regaining full fitness.

Best thing is he appears to have come through both games without incident, while playing superbly well as the middle of a three. We already know he can play the tight side, and with Dias, Guardiola and Ake all capable of playing the left, we appear to have added a match fit, world class, defender to the squad for the upcoming run of games.

That said, he needs to be resting up and on the bench, not trying to prove something to his old team, this weekend.

Why would Tuchel give a fuck about what's best for MCFC?
I'm sure he doesn't but I bet he minds how fit and fresh he is come summer as he's the only good cb we have. I'm sure he won't be taking any risks with John from now on and he must have had assurances he could play the 2 70mins he did.

I’ve no idea and he probably didn’t but he wanted Stones on his team and City obviously didn’t object.
Pretty sure clubs have no say re being their players being picked by their national side. If the club withdraws a player from a call up to the national side due to "injury", then medical staff from the association are entitled to examine the player. And if they find the player to be fit, the association can apply to have the player serve a ban. The only way is if the player chooses to retire from international football. And, unfortunately, there seems to be no chance of that happening

I wasn't aware certain posters had different privileges and were unable to be challenged on their opinion, if you could provide a list that would he great !
Maybe just be respectful of everyone until they prove themselves not worthy of it? I think your reply was a bit off target anyway. I don't think EB said that Tuchel should care about City. I do think that sometimes players who are injury prone should be more cautious about playing internationals but it seems that very few players actually share that viewpoint. Kompany would always be called up and would respond even when he had barely played for City.
The sad thing for England fans is that there are not that many options to Stones in the national team.

Stones hasn't played that much for city so far this season, so wasn't likely in his red zone and thus 2 matches for england was OK. Probably good for him even. Think he'll be back to the bench on Saturday, will have to wait his turn with defence playing well.
