82 | Rico Lewis - 2025/26

I don't rate Lewis at all in terms of a side wanting to finish best in the world.

That said, Lewis is by far the better starter at LB RB against sides that will park the bus, provided that we can mostly mitigate the inevitable ball over the top.

Edited - Lewis isn't a LB... typo.

Nico O, and Ait-Nouri ahead of him at LB, IMO. Both fantastic going forward, can go past several players and create something out of nothing.

Our choice at RB is currently between an out of position Lewis or an out of position Nunes. We have no true RB, let alone a RB befitting of a side hoping to finish best in the world.

If we're going to set up defensively against a side that will high press, I prefer Nunes.

If we're up against a weak side that is unlikely to cause us defensive issues - I prefer Lewis.

If we hope to win the P/L or C/L, I prefer that we sign a true RB.

Khusanov is our best right back

Khusanov is our best right back
I think that Khusanov is our best RCB (sorry Dias).

We lack a natural RB befitting a side that hopes to finish first in the P/L. Khusanov is learning the position and is for sure best there defensively, but against weak sides where we have most of the ball, we need someone much more creative - currently, that's Rico Lewis (however much I dislike him).

We really lack a true RB.

With your logic the answer is Nunes, the man who assisted a fair few goals last year. He is the best going forward and Khusanov is the best defensively. Rico is neither. We need a right back 100%

Who has a "natural" RB befitting a side that hopes to win the league?

Because Ben White is a converted CB, Timber is not great and always injured and not a specialist RB either.

Liverpool have a wingback and Bradley who's fine but nothing more.

I guess no one's gonna win the league this year...

Agree with you totally about Khusanov. His speed will be very important for us defensively against the top teams. Has so much potential for a young player and it will be very interesting to see his progress and development in both the RCB and RB positions.

We don’t know at all if he is our best RCB. He has barely played there.
Dias is also much improved recently since Gvardiol came back beside him

Makes you wonder how we won so many leagues with no "natural"LB too.

I know, it's infuriating. No fanbase in world football should know better that you can carry someone like Delph, Zinchenko, Nunes, Rico.

That's before we even get into the whole "RIco's not good enough to start every game, sell him" lot that have apparently watched football for 30+ years but never seen a player improve after 20, or acknowledge that players like Yaya, KDB, Silva weren't good enough to start every game for this City at 20 either.

rico can't improve on his greatest weaknesses because his greatest weaknesses are being short, weak and slow, all things he can't really do anything about. That's very different to players who need to improve on technical attributes. I think pep said himself Rico's height is the biggest issue.

Yep there’s no possible way a healthy young man can get stronger. And there’s never been a great player under 5’10.

It’s just not possible, sell him.

Also all Pep said was if Rico was 6’ he’d be as famous as Bellingham.

Rico is also weak and slow, which is as problematic as being short. It sucks, because he probably has the talent to play at city, but physically he's going to have a disadvantage against every player in the premier league bar none. And he doesn't have david silva/sergio level attributes to compensate (David's insane ball control and sergios' strength)

He can 100% get stronger, he's a kid, his pace is his biggest downfall.

Ben White, Timber and Bradley don't make the mistakes Nunes and Lewis make. We'd be top of the league now if we had a proper right back. Small margins and all that
