if you expectation is for him to play like prime rodri then that's the biggest issue we have,nico g has improved massively from last year. no more than he's defensive side of the game and ability to win duels on the ground and in the air, he's getting more confidence playing line breaking passes. biggest praise i can give is im not worried rodri isn't starting games with his name on the sheetI honestly don’t see it. I don’t think he’s like Rodri, I think he a lot more like Fernandinho the aggression and his duel winning he’s a lot more similar to Fernandinho.
I’ve noticed this season he’s a lot more aggressive in his tackling
you dont see it at game but when youtube video show highlights you can see what pep was saying at huddersfield take up space look round recive ball and know next passIf you don’t remember the Rodri gradual improvements from Plodri to he won’t year later oh he won’t replace Fernandinho he ain’t that good to his 3rd year then gradually becoming that Ballon D’or player then can see why you don’t see it in NG !
Also if you can’t see his improvements and how he receives the ball now and how he is mainly where he should be to try to win the ball back quickly to stop a transition, you not paying that much of attention! Which can understand.. Oh we will never have anyone who is this Rodri we will have someone who is top quality who does the job very well! No it’s not. Obviously Rodri is another level but I personally don’t see Gonzalez as the future guy. He is solid and does his job but feel there is/ will be better options out there.
